Turning 09 XFIRE R1000 into Mountain Sled?

Hey Guys,

I am new on here and don't know much about mountains sleds, but would like to turn mine into one. I live in Michigan but we are starting to go out west more and boondock here when we have good snow.

My sled is an Stock chassis '09 AC X-Fire R1000(128") Diamond Drive with porting, D/D Single Pipe, V-Force Reeds, Boondocker box and Boondocker NOS. It has been a very reliable and powerful set-up. My questions are what aftermarket and/or factory parts should I go with to switch this over? What track and what length(141,144,151,153,etc), what tunnel extension, do i try to extend stock skid or just go with a whole new skid?

I have an option to buy a nicely setup 09 Summit 800 146", however i really want the power of my current sled but don't want something chassis wise that isn't going to work if i transform my current sled. I am not brand loyal and would just like some general input, maybe I am better just selling mine and getting an HCR 800. But I already have mine built, set-up and tuned motor wise so I am really torn.

Any input greatly appreciated!

it would take very little to switch your over to what a few of us have on here.

I run a 09 cf1000 141 with a powerclaw. I live in the mtns, I ride only mtns, I don't ride trail AT ALL. The 141 powerclaw (as long as you have the hp to spin some trackspeed) does extremely well in the powder.

All you'd need is rails, back half, track & cooler lines.

This isn't the greatest pic, but it kinda gives you an idea of how I have mine set up.

beautiful day yesterday... until two of us on cats had to get towed out by a doo!!! (broke my spider, step-ups onto hardpack with too much track speed...)

Nice, thanks for the info. Where did you buy your parts? Also what handlebars are you running and is that a boss seat and if so how do you like it? I have one but never put it on?

Stock parts I get from Michelle (free agent on here) she's great & has the best prices hands down.

The bars are fly 1-1/8 bars with a 4" rise or so? I just like that it lets me go into the bars further without hitting anything, seems to work well for me. I put a non adj. post & tossed this setup on it.

The seat is the cat/boss seat, I can't say I'm a huge boss fan in particular, but I wouldn't ride without a higher seat if you gave me the sled. On landings the difference is VERY noticeable, and for just throwing the sled around, it works much better than stock.

Thanks for the input but I am new to the site, who is Michelle and how do I contact her?

Any idea if the Cat/Boss seat is the same as the Boss Seat, just curious as I already have it, never put it on as it just didn't feel right when I mocked it up but that was for trail riding so I am thinking it will be better for the backcountry.

her name is freeagent on here

i would stick with 136/141/144

depends on how much you want to spend , cheepest would be a 136x2 or 144x2

The cat/ boss seat is 99% the same as a regular boss seat.

Which drivers are on that sled?

If they're 2.52, minet may be right, you could keep the drivers if you do a 36 or 44, the 141 is a 3 pitch track, so you may need to add drivers to that list.

I'm a huge fan of the 141 PC, but the 144 CE 2.5 is a sweet track as well. How much trail do you ride, do you need more of a crossover type setup?

Yes 2.52 drivers and thanks for the contact with Michelle, she already emailed me my options.

Now the major decision is 141 or 153, and the type of track. I am not against switching tracks either, one for deep powder and maybe one for the crossover stuff as I will do a few trails and snow-drags. What are some of my options on tracks?

Please keep the input coming, as I am new to this stuff. Thanks

if you go 141 and have the coin to spare , without a doubt the 1.5/1.6 cobra track that comes on the snopro crossfires is a great track that hooks up on the trail and will keep you moving in the drifts. and the Pclaw is unmatched in 141 class.

153 you could find a 1.25 or 1.5 on tracksusa.com .. personally i get sick of changing tracks and i wrench on my sled 12 months a year
