Turn key reliability

I am very close to turboing my new xtx this winter. I Have put around 5000 miles on my apex, and other than normal maintenance have never done anything but turn the key wait for the light to go out and have fun.

My question is "If I turbo this xtx will i be constantly ***ging with it to make it run right or will I retain my turn key and go fun?"

Right now I am leaning towards the Powderlites kit, but not completely sure yet if that makes any difference.

Thanks,

kirk

You will initially have to screw around with it, for the first few rides, but after that, it should be smooth sailing. Clutching will be the biggest thing. Depends how much boost you want to run. Should be good once dialed in.

But then you will want to turn up the boost and then you will be tinkering again.

should have said that I plan to run 8# at sea level and 10 or so at laramie (8 to 10000'). This will be a pump gas set up. Not willing to mess with hauling fuel. Besides, I can get into more than enough trouble with a stock machine I am sure any boost will be more than enough lol.

thanks,

From what i read and see, the simplest "turn key" turbo is probably MCX. No button pushing anyway..clutching, well, there is always clutching...even with a stock sled clutching is key. So clutching is a given no matter boost or not.

That being said, I love my Impulse..but it, along with any other kit will take a lil bit of tinkering/button pushing/clutching.. I like to learn new things, and I like things 'dialed', in all aspects, for my own riding / person.

The things that have caused me troubles in the 1100+ mountain ridden, boosted miles:

* Oil can cracking (STOCK Part)
* Broken limiter strap (aftermarket) [but still rideable!]
* battery death if not run for a couple weeks (light wt part)
* Its evident it ate a belt before I owned it, chunks and fuzzies floating around...I have not had any issues since its been in my possesion, even tho both the belts I have on it are missing a bit of thread on the side.
* sore arms .. wait thats a side effect of boost? ;)

This sled was boosted @ 17# from the start of its life, since ~750 mi its been run at 12#

Actually, none of the issues STOPPED me from being able to ride completely.. I rode a day w/ the broken strap, the front was a bit "light" when on the throttle tho! :D The 'cracking' oil can made a mess, I fixed it w/ JBWeld to finish the season.. Battery was only an issue in the garage, after it sat a while..I carry the stock battery and cables in the truck, for now. Sore arms go away after a few rides...and you build the muscle where its needed. lol
