Turbocharged Carbed Renegade 1000 project

did the 4 little bags come with the pistons?

Nice work! Its going to be fast

Thanks

Yes they did, only good things come in velvet lol

I sure hope it's fast, now how fast I will find out. I'm going to use this sled for our local 1/4 mile radar run on shaved ice, I'm shooting for 150 mph this winter.

Got a little headway this weekend crank finaly came in so bottem end got put together. Tore into the plenum twice to get a good fit to the carbs and welded up the carbs to the flanges and elbows. I was not sure if the little lathe could cut me a taper for the polaris clutch but holy moly it did. Pretty much rough in is done, now a final tear down install a trail track and do all the little stuff, wiring gauges plumbing and so on. Should be on the lake in 2 to 3 weeks working on a tune with the trail track and then off to the radars for a 149 .9 run so I dont have to install a parachute. 150 is the mark for a chute .

Nice work. Looks like a great high volume set up! Remember not to put to much faith In that o2 sensor. they get terrible readings when they are that close to the end of the pipe.

Thanks for the heads up . I picked up a borescope to look at piston wash.

Cheers

Just curious why your gonna run the Poo primary clutch?

personal preference I would say cause been racing with them for many years. Now I never made this much hp before and will it stay together Im not sure, I have seen tra.s come apart with big hp. This is a gray area for me and if anyone has good advise on boosted big hp i.m all ears. Im not looking to lose a foot if a clutch comes apart which can happen and believe me Im fabbing up one bullet proof clutch guard.

Buddy has the Polaris primary on his big triple with turbine. It's made it through a number of years with some pretty good abuse. He has run some pretty big boost numbers through it. I would think the on/off the throttle of back country riding would be harder on it than drag races.

Good to Know!! thanks

We roll into the 1/4 mile for top speed so the clutch does not stress out, the only loaded is tall gearing really.

Cheers

personally, ive never made more than 1 pass on a poo drive with 125 gram weights.
either the spider cracks mid run or the forged ( billet ) units strip the threads from torque overtightening them..

you will have better luck with the tra 5, some dalton pins ( 27 grams ). you will need a notch to get engagement rpm above 4000, ( lots of mass with steel levers ). but she will haul the mail.

On joshs 800 turbo ( belman billet tra 2 ) we use 70 gram levers, 25 gram pins and a 230-320 spring. using std 280 ramps
holds the belt well, same belt now 2 seasons..26-29 psi boost. remeber its an 800 with a real garrett turbo ( 2876 ) not a lil'huffer !!!! LOL
with the flyweight clutches its a good rule to start with 1 gram per hp. lots of guys drag racing over 500 grams. yes,, 125 plus per weight. Next is a nice new 6 weight micro .

I do have tr5's kicking around

Now I have options. Thanks for the heads up Gus 2 more weeks should be go time.

Any plans for an intercooler? How much boost and what fuel are you planning to run?

No cooler this winter and as for fuel i'm going to see whats around. Im guessing 14 lbs for sure and possibly 20. I'm trying to track down some twin pipes to compare them.

I would run as much octane as possible. Vp c23 is a very safe turbo fuel. I think you will find d the twin pipes to be more of a hassle then they are worth.

Cool thanks man.

I can see using c23 for race day. Right now the turbo system is removed from the race chassis and stuffed into my trail renegade for lake running and tuning on av. I like to test alot and have fun with and make sure it stays together before I hit the radars.

Is this Curtis
