A few of us are starting a little group project for a friends sled on here.

Heres the rundown of whats going on

08xp 163
66 aero and a bunch of leftover parts from turbo performance

Its not a complete kit, but I have uilt a full system before along with another helper who has done 2 of his own, so we got a good list of what we need, so parts aren't the issue. just details that im not sure on for messing with the doo's.

DPM? What on earth do you do with your dpm system?? just unplug it and let it hang?? plenty of details never hurt me.

exhaust valves. Thinking about pinning them open due to ease of tuning, just curious for any pictures on how to set it up.

Carbs, what needs to be referenced, If anyone has a picture of the carbs with all the lines to it, I can figure most of them out, just need a start before we go nuts.

any advice about things to look for, please, let me know, There are always tricks on every sled, just looking for advice before we start knockin it out this week.

i personally took some rubber dounuts from a set of shocks and a large washer and nut to hold my exhaust valves open seems to work fine for me fit tight over shaft and some locktite and don't seem to have any lag with aero 53

you dont have to refeence that much on the carbs any more. all you need is 5 five barbs on your box.

bryce,do you have any pictures of a proper setup'?? I am asking for my friend clint who just bought an aero and a bunch of stuff from you guys.

my understanding was it was reference the tops, reference the fronts where it says heated, and thenjust add pressure to the float bowls where the dpm used to attach.

you can still do it this way if you want. but we have learned alot since the first xp we got in 07. we had been building kits for guys but all were one off. So when our first kits went out the door they were built correct just over built. we tried to cover any problem that we could think of and mke it simple for the guy who knew nothing about turbo's. since then we have made the kit with alot less junk and they fit alot better with out all the stuff in there.

yeah, I see more then a few ports that look what I would call double referenced. thanks for all the help guys, just good to get a head start on this mentally, always way more to do once you get going, but this is just helping be more confident in the project.

currently cutting up the stock pipe and getting the stinger out, and doing some serious welding to keep the seams from ever blowing out.. takes a while, but should never have issues this way.

woo hoo all the turbo stuff came today! thanks brycter! should be something coming together in the next couple days... thanks nick for getting started on that.

Man, these pics make me miss my turbo 2 stroke. I wish I would have given the 600 sdi turbo a little more time. And would have gone with an EIC instead back then. I still wanna try and do it again. If I only had a motor.

have any pics of your pipe mod ?
I Will get some pictures of the stinger and all the crap I cut out with an explenation of how to get it out VERY easily. also workin on welding up the seams still, it takes a while, lots of welding,as for the seams its a freakin joke, no wonder they blow out so easy.

and yeah, they are stupid simple. and if we can get it to come out of the hole like the other t-800 in our group, its gonna be WILD> should be a really fun sled.

I've seen guys make some spacers for the exhaust valves, just slip them over the shaft and bolt em back down so it holds em wide open. just some
3/4" round aluminum with a hole in it, i don't know the lenght off the top of my head.

I will tell you. if you remove the rave vales performance suffers. on and off the throttle and in the trees it hurts ya. i have a few different ideas on making the raves work good with out bellows. but if you run the sled with ot bellows you will not see the perfromance you are looking for. exspecally with with turbbo set up. Just my .02 :face-icon-small-hap

turbo xp

Bryce is wright...I have tried both pulling the valves open with a bushing as well as supreme tool block off plates that fill the cavity that the valve actuates through. It can be made to run well this way but your bottom end fueling has to be spot on. Any fluctuation in elevation or temperature and your bottom end suffers terribly. I am currently trying some of the "tricks" to keep your bellows together so there is a functioning valve.

best of luck!!!

fair enough guys, we might leve them be for now and then we will see what we can do to make them functional..

my only thought would be to remove the line that runs over to the solenoid on the mag side of the motor, im assuming its some sort of bleeder to delay there opening?? Maybe you wan them to work, just open a hair sooner to allow the thing to brethe in the mid throttle WOT situations.

O do tell, i've been sitting on the bench about turboing my sdi, talked with TP Boyz and like what i hear ,but maybe you could help me move foreward or should i just buy a 4 stroker and turbo it.:focus:

Glad to see you r dealing with the pipe issue now and now later.
yeah, especially because its an aero, you puke anything through them and its not gonna live.. so there goes basically $1000 down the ****ter over 15 minutes worth of cutting and welding, and reinforcing the seems is just something that needs to be done on the doo pipes, there just really inconsistant around the edges.

gonna go work on the thing tonight, it seems to be coming along quite nice...

althought the prototype airbox wouldn't hold 80psi so were gonna have to keep the boost down... it blew up pressure testing. was an accident going that high, but pretty crazy.
