Turbo Reed Set Up volume 3

Are the HO stops longer like the OVS stops? No need to double up the top reeds?

No. They are shorter than the OVS stops. The OVS stopps never helped with my reed issues.

The ONLY durable combo I have found so far is what I listed above.

I have never damaged a top reed, so I figured why double stack.

For over a season, I was pulling reeds every 2-4 rides, and replacing due to eroded bottom corners every time. Non- HO Reeds, M-1000 reeds, TDR reeds, double stacked non HO reeds. HO reed blocks, Non ho reed blocks.... didnt matter. Bottom corner erosion EVERY TIME. I was never willing to try doubled M1000 reeds as I wanted to maintain good response. On my HO motor, the stock reed setup, with NON ho reeds double stacked on the bottoms only was my silver bullet.

I pulled my current setup after a full season of riding. 1000+ miles, and there was miniscule tip erosion on the bottom reeds, but still full seal.

Will the HO reed blocks fit a M1000? I will have to check the fiche. I already have the OVS stops...I wonder if they fit the HO blocks?

You're not saying that the OVS stops caused the damage, just that they didn't help...correct?

I picked up a set of HO reed blocks. Next time I have it apart I will throw them in with your suggested reed setup. Any reason a M1000 would need a different setup? Thanks for the info and the time you have spent testing.

Comparison pics

Here are some pics of what TheBreeze is referring too.
1st pic HO reed assembly on left, stock M7 on right (assuming same as M8 Non HO)
2nd pic M8 HO reed on left, NON HO M8 on right
3rd Pic part number for NON HO reeds
I am not sure if they are thicker, Ill take his word on that.

Has anyone tried the Carbon Tech reeds that Gus said he found superior in "volume 2"? He said the carbon fiber reeds seem to hold up better than the fiberglass reeds.

Thanks Gus for the recomendation

I have been running the stock 4 petal reeds doubled with OVS stops 12-15 psi in an M7 BB 100LL and lots of miles and they still look great.:face-icon-small-coo

Gus your PM box is full. So for him or anyone else:

I need to order reeds for my TM1000 that I run at 4-8 lbs boost. I know people are having good luck with the ZR/M reeds double stacked. Gus also talked about the Carbon Tech reeds holding up really well. Maybe better than the ZR/M reeds. I am thinking a set of Carbon Tech LT reeds doubled stacked would be my best bet.

I have tried the carbon tech reeds over the m1000 reeds top and bottom and the throttle response was a bit sluggish over the doubled up bottom single top reed set up.

I have a set of those carbon techs if someone wants to try them. I would make someone a good deal on them. They only have 3 rides on them last spring.

I figure at 10 lbs and well tuned sled there is not wear on them.

Yo Big air.
I use the carbon tech lights over oem 4 petal on my cats.
right now I have doubled carbon tech lights in my 900 TRIPLE pipped tripl TURBO trail sled.
running 8 psi to 15 at sea level.
been 100% great so far. better than double oems to these triples have little itty bity cages that get worked very ahrd moving large volumes of air.

my pm box is locked full by the all and powerful oz

Boysen turbo spec reeds have bin awesome for me. 8-12 psi all hard deep mountain miles. This is season two on them probly 1000 Miles.

I bought the medium tension ones and stacked them over the m1000 reeds and noticed a bit more sluggish bottom end. If I did it again I would just run the mt's by themselves. Guess I should of bought the Lt's

Jim

Had around 1800 miles on the boysen reeds and had one let go this weekend. I run around 11-14lbs depending. Installed some stock ones to get the rest of the season then Ill put boysens back in.

I agree. Boysen are the ones. Just pulled mine after 800+ miles nothing wrong with them. Very slight warp from some heat. Going to replace with there new dual stage turbo setup. Should give little more throttle resp.

Everyone that is running the Boyesen reeds...are you just running them single stacked?
