Turbo protection plate

I see some guys have suggested making a plate to protect the turbo from the track. It seemed like a good idea, so had a piece made and it covers the entire area under the turbo and at the rear it angles up to within about 1.5 inches of the top of the tunnel.

My concern is that this may make a area for snow to accumulate around the turbo, will the turbo keep any of this snow melted, or should I drill some 1" holes in my plate to let the snow back out. I made the plate out of 1/8 " aluminum plate and it is 16" long, so it should have some strength to allow me to ventilate it some and still do its job. Maybe I am concerned about nothing. Just wanting to get some opinions from those who have put such a plate in.

Thanks,

I did take a few picture if I am not getting my point made.

Deflector plate looks good. I ran with something similar, alot of heat in that area. I would think it will melt the snow.
I see you are running without the stock tunnel cooler. Are you running a rear cooler. have you rode the sled without the cooler yet?

it will melt the snow no problem, but I would extend it to the tunnel to keep the snow out, as its not the track its the snow you want to protect the turbo from, snow on a hot turbo should be avoided if possible. I did the same thing last year just went clear up to the tunnel.

Thanks for the replies, I think I will make a piece to go above it and block it off. As far as the tunnel cooler, this is a XTX and they don't put the tunnel coolers in them .
