Turbo piston size

Hey all,

I am doing a little research for a buddy. He has an 09 dragon 800 and is putting a boondocker race gas turbo kit in it. When he talked to cycle works in Edmonton, they told him that he needed to run smaller positions. This doesn't sound right to me so I am asking for your opinions/experience on this.

Thanks
Sam

dont think they know what their talking about, smaller pistons?? the only thing some people are doing is running the older single ring pistons but that is not necessary also, just run the engine with the stock pistons you will be fine, thereare threads on here with guys running for 2000plus miles boosted on stock dual ring pistons and they still look good.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions lightning. When my buddy said they told him that, I had red flags jumping up from all over the place. If they put smaller pistons in, they would have a better chance of scoring the sides and seizing. And also blow by would be am issue I would imagine. I run a turbo m8 so of course I am bugging him a little for falling for that load of BS from cycle works but he doesn't know too much about 2 stroke turbos and was believing them in the smaller piston theory. Once again, thanks for confirming my suspicions.
