Turbo on a 121 FX Nytro...is it worth it ???

New to the forum, and although I've been reading quite a bit on turbo applications on these sleds, I've still got a lot of questions. First off, our riding is done primarily anywhere from sea level to a maximum of maybe 2000 feet, only on a trip further east would it be slightly higher. We get some decent powder after a lingering Nor'Easter snowstorm, sometimes a few feet or more. Most sleds sold in our area are 121 trail sleds, with a few crossovers and mtn sleds here and there, but for the most part, guys run 121's with 1.5" lug tracks (like myself) for ditchbanging and offtrail fun. So I guess the most obvious question is whether or not a turbo would be overkill for a short track sled, and if so, what would you guys recommend be the minimum length if someone were to go this route ? The next thing I'd have to ask is which turbo does everyone find works the best ? I've noticed that there's front mounts, and mid and rear mounts, but there's not a lot of experienced folks around here who have actually tried and tested them, so your guy's opinion and experience is very important. Last would be a question relating to the general summary of what would be required for low elevation areas like ours, whether it be clutching/gearing, fuel requirements, boost levels, basically a run down on anything relevant to the above stated. If you guys could offer some advice and input, it would be greatly appreciated ! Nice forum too guys, keep up the good work ! :beer;

Got lot's of 121 turbo's around here...MCX rearmount on ALL...runs like champs.. seen to many front mounts overheat, not sure about the newer one's, but the mcx's work so great, why change to something that we're not sure about? Personally I would never go under 144" on a turbosled...you need traction..if you run icy areas, I guess studs could make up for it, but for trailriding a turbo isn't that great... There's just not long anough pulls to justify the turbo... On mountainsleds and lakerunners, the turbo is just right...On short track trailsleds, the 130 hp of the Nytro is more than enough imho...

no problem, and LOL...don't take it so hard...90% of the people on this site, didnæt know 121's still excisted....ble glad that you got one real world reply instead of 85854 reply's from people with no clue, and that was mostly just out to BS you.... :beer;:D

ps, have a nice weekend, and happy boosting :D

the reason most people didnt reply is this topic has been discued before a few times use the search theres at least 3 treads on this topic alone , plus most people on here ride mountain sleds.

I just figured that being it's later in the season, guys with turbos installed on this first year model would have a better handle on what their results are now that they have more seat time on them. And mountain sleds or not, if I had some important info to add, I'd be willing to offer anything relevant about this sled if somebody asked, isn't that what these forums are for ?
