Turbo - need advice

I am looking for some advice.

I got a 2014 pro showing up and have a 2011 that I am debating on putting a turbo on. I have no experience with turbos, and have had people tell me it is the best thing you can ever do and other people tell me to not touch it. I have ridden a few and.....they are amazing

Can anyone give me the real deal...what ones to look at and why? What kits are best for still being reliable? Is there such a thing as one that doesn't have to be tinkered with all the time?

If you send me a PM I will give you my cell number and we can discuss the Pros and Cons of a Silber kit. You may also be able to throw a leg over one on the Grand Mesa early in the year.

I did a lot of research before buying. The turbo guys seem to play nice amongst one another but each feels they are better for a reason. It's easy to get caught up in hype just like which sled is best, which shocks are best, etc. I went with the Silber for a few reasons. I like the cost, I like the BullyDog setup (and the testing they have done with it), I like having bostonracing nearby to help out and I like the upcoming internal oil turbo (no oil tank). Even though mine has the oil tank setup, I might pay the coin for the update later. By the way, it was between Silber, Boondocker and Aerocharger for me. I like the fact that the Aerocharger is already a self contained oil system and their turbo seems to be the best quality build but they really push a ton of race fuel in the setup.

Pretty sure most turbo kits now days, you don't have to tinker with much once there setup. As far as reliability your adding parts so essentially your adding more things that "possibly" could go wrong. That being said. I don't tinker with my sled every ride. I usually check it over pretty well after every weekend but can go ride 3-4 days and not mess with it at all except for load the muff pot up.

For every good turbo story, is a bad one to go with it. Turbo's can be a ball and a nightmare.

Rule #1-Turbo's are not for everyone!

Rule #2- At some point and time you will be on the side of a mountain going WTF did I do this?

I have been around and ran turbos for quit a few years. Yes they have advanced quit a bit. They still take patience and a fair amount of mechanical ability.

Boost it kit first choice then the MTNTK kit looks good and priced nice also

It's an addiction.

There is nothing else like havin that much power in a sled and hearing that turbo spool, on the edge of control up some cliff where you have no buisness being with the skis 5' in the air and hanging on for dear life. You won't ever want to go back to NA.

Be prepared to spend some money though. Once you get the turbo you want a skid to keep up with it. You want more venting, high flow intake, stiffer chassis, stronger drivers, motor mounts, ect. And whenyou screw up your in that much more of a stickey situation. Possibly damaging more because it's further down the hill for your $30k sled to roll.

That being said, I can't wait till I can afford to boost my sled again ;) if your ready for it do it. Do your research, find a good shop nearby that can install it with you there to learn about it and buy whatever kit they support.

Stand alone

I really like the idea of a stand alone ecu. Not sure what you guys think about the piggy backs but I know your limited. I have never owned a dagon but I hear the respond well to a piggy back you would want a 2010 imo and some variation of a fix it kit.

BOOST that thing man! Especially if you have a new sled that you intend to leave stock. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the kits available today, it just depends on your budget. Problem is, once you boost your '11, your new '14 will get awful lonely sittin in the trailer all the time....
