Turbo M1000 Y-pipe recomendations

I have approximately 100 miles on my turbo and noticed a crack in the y-pipe during a routine inspection. The crack is right in the center and about 3/4" long. It is the stock y-pipe. I know I could just weld what I have got but was wondering if there is something better out there? How are the aftermarket y-pipes holding up? What about tuning? Thanks for your input.

- do you have a hard mount from the pipe to the turbo?
- how many springs are on the y-pipe to pipe fitting?

Hatch, I have an OVS kit with their style clamps. 1 spring on each side of the y-pipe for a total of 2 per end.

I split my y right in half earlier this year and I think it was probably because it was tightened to much. same OVS mount. Anyways I have switched to a D&D turbo Y and it seems to be stronger and claims to have a few more ponies. :)

Klimbibg Kitty, I was wondering about over tightening it myself. Did you have to adjust your fuel map after installing the D&D y-pipe? Did you notice any performance gain? 189.00 seems like a lot of $ for a Y-pipe. Nothing cheap about a turbo I guess!!

Sled was in the shop for some other tuning issues and I had them put the Y on and then they took it to the mountain and re-tuned the PL box. Minor adjustments. My sled flat out rips now at 15 pounds:hurt: the 189 is worth it if it doesn't split. Factory ones are hit and miss. who knows if it was made on a Friday just before beer:face-icon-small-win. The D&D is made for the turbo. THERE IS NOTHING CHEAP ABOUT A TURBO but the view is better from the top of the Mountain

I run a D&D 1200 y-pipe on my m1000 set up 1000 miles still in one piece. They say adds more hp all as i care is it's still in one piece.

i broke three y-pipes last year on a kit that was hard mounted from pipe to the turbo.....and the y-pipe side had all 12 springs

this year, the turbo side is a donut and uses 4 springs, the y-pipe side has 8 and i dont use the pancake idea anymore......only one spring plate on the bottom and pull the springs up the the pipe thingy dingy

IMO The stock Y pipe is a piece of p00p. On a bone stock 1000 I gained +250 rpm just by changing the y pipe and fickin with the fuel curve.

The Hatcher is right about having a extra pivot in the exhaust by the turbo.

If you have not done something with the motor mounts you are going to have problems with y pipes cracking, blowing exhaust donuts and chomping belts. The belt thing can get expensive and the sad thing about it is your wasting a bunch of power eating them belts.

I was getting about 40 miles to a belt with the stock mounts on low boost 6psi.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have the additional motormount and torque arm installed. I have the OVS style clamps on both ends of my pipe with the stock exhaust donuts. I am wondering if I over tightened those exhaust clamps causing the failure. Sounds like the D&D Y is the way to go. I just like how idiot proof my sled is right now. I used Travis's settings for the box and it runs really good. I would hate to give any of that up for a few extra HP. The crack may be the reason the thing has not made over 4.5-5lbs of boost.
