Turbo kit with PC controller

Im purchasing a push turbo kit and am thinking about switching it over to using a PC instead of the prologic box. Just more comefortable that set up and feel it can be more fine tuned and able to use the auto tune function. I was just seeing how many people have a push with the PC or have converted over any other kit to use one and have had good luck. Just making sure im not making a mistake and should just sell the PC and auto tune and keep it the way it is.

the auto tune has a MAJOR drawback that I got to watch firsthand this winter on a fellows sled..

if your tuning is far enough off that it starts missfiring(rich) it autotunes and ADDS fuel as your AFR is reading lean from the air in the pipe(not burning) it never ran that well at all..

as far as a purelogic box(I assume thats what you ment) they work really well and your sled is a very common well running turbo sled, so they have the mapping pretty dialed for them.

OK I ask because I know Jeff at Dakota Performance has had good luck with them and thougt it might be easier to tune with beings it works in % change in fuel and Im not totally sure how the purelogic works. Im thinking with the purelogic Im going to need two settings beings Im going to have large elevation changes from 1,300ft at home to 10,000ft riding out west.

I also noticed that on Power Commandes site they have ignition modules that you can use with the PC V that can be boost referenced. If this is available it may just be the slick ticket that everyone is looking for to use in a piggyback system to control timing on 2010+ M8's with keeping the higher compression head and still run pump gas. Might just have to give them a call.

?

I also would like to know if the PC v is the way to go. I went with the PL box just because it seems easier to understand and costs less. Jeff really swears by the PC v w/ auto tune but I just didnt want to be 20 miles back in somewhere have it f up. Then its like now what the he** do I do. I think its just more complication? IDK? Anyone on here swear by it or at it?

auto tune isnt the gravy it sounds like. You have to have a close map for it to work. and different sensors read different ways. Different gauges different calibrations. See what Im getting at?

If you are dealing with Jeff listen to him he knows what he is talking about. I just bought a sled from him and its running a PC-V on a push setup. He said he has maps for all kinds of elevations, so with his base maps and auto tune we will see how it runs this year!

Ya Ive been trying to get ahold of him. Apparently he was talking to Cat reps today but talked with one of the other guys and they seemed to be pretty knowledgabe on their setups. Sounds pretty interesting. Going to try to get ahold of him tomorrow.

I talked to them about the ignition set up and they said that power commander only makes ones for bikes so its down to just using a timing key turned around or the boondocker device to help on the open throttle and comming off full throttle to midrange problems.
