Turbo Charge air temps?

At what charge air temperature would one start to see detonation on pump gas? Basically, what temp. is to high on the charge temps?

Very complex question.

depends on octane of fuel, engine compression, head design, A/F ratio.

Better question is how much more octane is needed to keep from detonating per say every 10 degree raise in charge temps.

OK, 91 octane, Polaris 800 Dragon with 2010 updated head and pistons, have not checked the compression though. Any ballpark #'s on the temperature?

I would guess that anything over 150 degrees could induce some det issues. On my pump gas mini innercooler setup, I havent seen anything over 110 degrees.

At what psi is that at? I have seen 255 deg. at 8 pounds. 9000 ft elevation.

i have seen 255 deg. at 10psi at 10000ft, no innercooler.
thats on a long pull in deep pow. thinking about making a better cold air intake.
i think the bd box and temp sensor only goes to 255 deg.
