Tunnel Vinyl

have not finished with mine yet. just done the sides so far, but am planning to wrap the top later this week when i get home if the material has been sent out. takes a little time and care, but i used some 3M CF wrap. actually has a textured feel to it. hit it with a tiny bit of heat from a heat gun and it softened and allowed it to draw into little details if you rubbed your fingers on it. link to supplier below...http://www.vinyldecals.com/wrap-vinyl-material/black-carbon-fiber-3m-1080-wrap-film-vinyl.html

BULL,
how big was the vinyl that you bought?
thanks mike

i think i bought 2 pieces that were 12x48 and am waiting on one that is 24x36 for the top of the tunnel. madsigntist has said the CF is not ideal due to scratching and it doesn't shed snow as well as the other types of vinyl. i have not had it out yet, so i cannot say.

This true, but don't get your panties in a bunch. It still sheds pretty good, and better than raw AL. On the plus side, it is way thick and has a good adhesive.
3M knows their chit.

i rarely wear panties, and when i do they are something unusual.........

thanks again for the help with the koso mount on my gauge lifter matt

When you are buying the vinyl and installing yourself, are you laying it on and then trimming to fit correct?

Just wondering if it is worth the savings VS having a set cut from a shop.....

Thanks

i'd love to had it precut. i just somewhat trimmed in place. cut to a pretty close shape, installed and trimmed to close details.

here is mine after the tunnel wrap and scs wrap. the vinyl on the tunnel sides and top is one piece. major PITA. had to strip everything off the tunnel including the airframes to put it on. i also did the side of the inside of the tunnel to try to get snow to shed off from the inside better. when i put it on i didn't think about the CF look not shedding snow as well but as was said above, it still sheds a heck of a lot better than the raw AL. we'll see how it holds up over the winter. i'm guess it will be pretty beat after a season of hard riding. there are already some some signs. specifically where it lays over the coolers. no over heating or cooling issues but i think the constant heat or at least the heat/cool cycles are causing the vinyl to become brittle. plus there are already signs that my boots/pants might tear up the sides.

Use your SnoWestOnline.com photo album rather than the attachment... you will get much bigger pics.
