Tunnel icing

Can anyone tell me if covering the tunnel with a panel on 09 XTX is going to melt anything? I'm bone stock with exception of a MBRP can. The sled runs awesome but by the end of the day I'm about 30lbs heavier with ice.
I figure a custom panel would do the trick or does anyone out there know of a fabricator that has some made up? Any ideas or comments are welcome.

cut off a 1 foot peice of old slider to chip off ice off the tunnel and running boards. store it in back pack

i work at a yamaha dealership and what we have been doing is taking out the tunnel protectors they are a stupid idea anyways it will drop a considerable amount of ice build up then well if theres still to much you could always have the tunnel powdercoated but seriously cut teh protectors out and let me know how that works we have done about 60 of them all with good results

Good idea as long as you don't have a studded track......and many XTX's do.

Good comeback! How's your "sick, lame and lazy neighbor doin'?
He's slowly getting better. He's out of the cast but the tissue in that area was turned into burger so it's going to take him awhile yet. He's walking around but he's got a pretty serious limp. We tried to alieviate his pain on Saturday with copius amounts of libations but the only thing we accomplished was greasing his jaws!! You know what that means, lol.......... I'll pass on that you were asking about him. Anything new with you? Have you seen those Splitrail skis? Man they're horny lookin!! I wonder about durability and deep powder though?

I've seen those skis but haven't tried them. I'm actually quite happy with the stock MTX skis. Working on something that eliminates the need for skis most of the time........boost. Been missing it too much. As for your XTX icing up, removing the protectors will help. Did that to a friends here that went with a 1.75 track. Say hi to Scott for me.

Looking for a poor man's fix? I attached a piece of Crazy Carpet to the rear section, extends right up to the turbo area. Then I used a piece of galvanized furnace sheeting and fab'd my own cover that goes over the turbo area. I have at least half the amount of ice buildup that my buddies sleds do, the snow just slides off the surfaces! A little silicone spray also goes a long ways.......... Sherm
