tunnel dump muffler yes or no?

It sure would be nice, but I don't know if I would want to cut a hole in my tunnel for the exhaust dump. Other then that yes! My M8 powder bogs BAD when making right hand powder turns.

I didn't bleed or even feel a thing when the hole was cut. Sure have loved the tunnel dump and no longer having a sidehill bog is a wonderful thing.

whoa, whoa, what are you guys talking about? when did they start making a tunnel dump muffler? anybody have a pic of one installed? or a link to them?

wait a minute. i am on snowest almost every day. i am lost.....

I have a tunnel dump. I will admit I was skeptical and cutting the hole made me cringe, but I got to say it works really well. No regrets. If you are one of those guys who goes as far as painting or polishing your suspension. You might not do the tunnel dump because the exhaust does slightly dirty up your skid.

One thing that was unexpected with the tunnel dump was the muffling effect of the snow. My M8T is a straight pipe right off the turbo through the tunnel with no muffler. It is at a near deafening sound level in the garage or on the trailer, but as soon as I hit the snow it is the quietest sled in my group!

how long does it take to intall one of these? do you have to remove any of the footrest in order to cut the hole? what all needs to be removed in order to make the hole for the tunnel dump?

Timbersled makes (or made) an exhaust outlet deflector you rivet onto the existing outlet. I have one on my 06 and it doesn't bog at all. Worth looking into and could save you a couple hundred bucks.

an exhaust deflector is not the same as a tunnel dump. an exhaust deflector helps prevent the problem... a tunnel dump changes the location of the exit which completely wipes out the problem. i have a deflector on my 09 1000 and it bogs in the deep.... which is why i'm heavily considering the tunnel dump.

The Timbersled exhaust deflector will only fit the M7 and M8. Even if it did fit the M1000 it does not prevent exhaust cap off on that sled. The Speed Werx Powder Advantage muffler (tunnel dump) completely eliminates exhaust cap off on the M1000, plain and simple. The install is straight forward stuff, takes an hour or so. The M1000 should have this system on it when they come off the assembly line imo. Budd

Yep, I'm aware of the differences...just thought I'd throw that out there as another alternative to spending 400.00 on a can. I wasn't aware we were specifically talking about the M1k as other posts had mentioned M8s, etc...Obviously the tunnel dump is THE way to go to get rid of any bog. Excellent idea on speedwerx's part to come up with the design!! And I couldn't agree more- ALL the M sleds should have come from the factory that way.

The install is a little tricky, however if you follow the instructions and have proper tools it takes about 45min. The process, though somewhat laborious, yields a bog free sled in the deep... It makes an otherwise irritating sled a pleasure.

For the very deep stuff it is a must. Seems expensive until you use it. The sled no longer bogs out and dies. One of those few mods that you are more than happy with after install.

Anybody know how it will affect the horsepower of the sled? I dont doubt it would be great on the deep powder days but we get more riding in a foot of powder which is no problem, than we do in three foot powder days which is when the bog happens. Just dont want to hinder performance on my thirty average snow ride days compared to my ten deep powder days.

Crap!

I'm heavily considering an M8 for my next sled. I've got an old MM700 piped that also bogs in the deep when I turn right and carve, I hate that!

Crap!

All I want to do is spend $10,000 and pull the friggin rope! I barely have time to maintain what I have, (vehicles, sleds, wheelers, house, kids, wife) let alone ask me to fix someone else's fug-up, and then ask me to pay for it.

Please, please manufacturer's take my $10,000 and let me pull the rope, that's it. Pull the rope is apparently too much to ask. I just want to pull the rope.

Like everyone else said...a must have if you ride the deep!! Was a pleasure last year not bogging one single time in 2-3 feet of POW!!

Right all the time ?

So your cat bogs going right?............hey this subject has been thrashed to death in the powder on here, check old threads, exiting into the tunnel might
help.........caused other issues 20 years ago. Come to think of it..........if you really do find DEEEEEEEP powder it will bog right or left or straight unless you address the issue of clean air.........think enviromental, clean air for your motor.

You can ride an M8 on the right side pod in 4' of fresh for up to an hour no issues or bog if you mitigate the exhaust not coming back into the engine compartment and directly into cats hotair suck hole. You can fix that for $400 or $4, your choice. Other models of cats check warranty issues/disclaimers /lack of funding / owners manual.
