Tumbler area looking up

how we get there

You turn off the highway onto the road that goes to the old Bullmoose mine. There's a big yellow sign there. Then you'll go in there aways and you'll come to some transformers with a big bank behind them at the start of the Windfall Creek road. There is a bit of a parking lot there and you can ride your sleds in on the Windfall. Around 15km in there is a bit of a lake or swamp on your left and we normally cross that and go up through the trees into an alpine meadow back there. But there's tons of options there!

The snow at 15km in on the Windfall.

hello i was just wondering what the road conditions are to get into core lodge and if the tumbler area got all the rain that grande prairie has. i heard that you cant get into kakwa falls without chains right now so think im going to try the core lodge area on sunday. if anyone knows would be great.

Made it up to windfall creek today. It rained up there this week, hard pack with 0-8" of snow on the hard pack snow. Come on snow!!!!

Snow=crap

Rode Bullmoose today. Went briefly into first area, then back into the second. Both were fawkin disgusting! All the fresh snow that had fallin last weekend had been windswept HARD, then rained on, then windswept again. After all that good ol' Mother Nature finished us off with a crazy windstorm.

The chinese food was good after though!

Rode Bullmoose today, way better than yesterday (windfall creek)! A foot plus in places! Was snowing when I left. Looking at the two week forecast for tumbler, lots of snow coming in the feet!!!! Cross fingers!

Pretty much given up myself. I was up working at the mine at Core Lodge and it was snowing a bit. But looked like it was immediately blown into drifts. I'm sure there's some areas hiding back there but not really enough for me to go looking when the pass looks so much better at the moment.

Windfall creek eh? I've never been up that way. I was at the Brule mine once though and the snow looked stellar. Where do you ride up there that you're allowed?

Pine Pass

The pass is always better! Too many rocks and wind blown for my liking. Now having said that I really don't know that area that well. I've just rode with friends that live and ride there. They always brag it up but... I find the Pass waaaay better.

I think it comes down to the snow. PK just gets More. period.

But TR is nice because it'swaaay quieter. and open. And closer. But almost all truly powder days Ive had are from the pass.
