TT m1000 vs turbo pro climb 800

The seasons over for me, and I'm real close to snow checking a 2012 800. I'm coming off a 09 tt1000 running 8.5 lbs. My question is will I be disappointed in the power of a boosted 800 running max boost possible (12lbs???) for 100LL at 6000-8000 ft.

Depending on the head you may be able to run more boost than that. I have seen it take 12 on a 8 to run even with a pg1k at 8.5. I don't think you will be unhappy and the 08-11 800s were far easier to tune and way better on belts than the 1k

I hear ya, the belt issue was the final straw for my 1000, last trip we had some really heavy snow, about 3.5 feet and I went through 4 belts in 3 days, 12 belts in 24 days of mountain riding this year.

Do ya think there will be kits avaible for the start of the season or are we going to have to wait a month or two.

You will miss the overall low end grunt. For heavier riders I think you will feel the most diff. But product tester says he is getting the same performance out of a m8 and m1000 up to 10lbs???? I would think the kit will be ready pretty quick seeing how its the same motor, just have to mount things different.

12 belts a year...I would be able to get over the little bit of lost hp for that kind of $$. I bought my 2010 m8 from a guy that put a seson on 1 belt. I changed it out at the begining of this year and it still rides almost perfectly for deflection at 12 psi. If there is something that requires more power then an 8 at that kind of horsepower I have convinced myself that I really don't need to be there anyway.

Tapios were racing 2012s with turbos at Jackson. Don't know whos kit.

I have 800, 1000, and 1200 M turbos and I prefer my 1000 and am considering buying a Pro 800 and putting a 1000 in right away with turbo. Setup and clutched properly I have little to no belt issues with any of my sleds and the power delivery of my 1000 is perfect for my riding which is trees and hillclimbing.

Spoon: I am with ya man. I have M7, M8, and M1000 Turbos and like the 1000 the best for day in and day out. I am 165 lbs so the 7 and 8 are a bit easier to get through the ugly stuff with.

I am thinking the same thing. Throw a 1000 motor in the 800 chassis. From what I have measured, it should only take some motor mounts and slight y pipe and pipe fabrication.

So why did product tester say he is riding m8's and getting the same power out of both up to 10lbs. And why would MMsports put a DD back in a new chassis.

So is 12lbs boost possible with straight 100LL at 5000-8000ft on the new HO 800's (assuming you go back to the lower compression head). Most builders are telling me 10 is tops, kind of disapointing, or are they just being extra safe on their recomendations.

Thanks

With the newer kits and better technology the kits are putting out more power with lower boost numbers. Depending on how well your m1T ran, I think full boost on 100ll will be comparable. Like I stated product tester stated that he was seeing close to the same power out of m1000 and m8's up to 10lbs when setup right.

Sounds like a super charger may be another option. Both ripcharger and speedwrex will have one out for next season. Instant throttle response does hold some appeal.

I rode with a TM1000 on Saturday. I have a 2010 M8 with OVS Tial kit running 11lbs. Also had a 2008 M8 with BD kit, intercooler running 12 lbs. We had amazing snow for April, over 2 feet of fresh. We hit 4 chutes where the TM1000 would single shot each chute (and did so waaayyy to fast!). Each chute required a lot of commitment with about 50-70 yards to go and both TM8's had to turn out for a 2nd run at the hill.

TM1000 was an '09 running 12 lbs on 111 Trail Tech fuel. Kit was OVS.

In going back and forth, there was a very noticable difference from the 1000 to the 800. Low end was awesome on the 1000 and once you hit the top end it was so freakin fun I couldn't look down at the guages to see my A/F or track speed :). We were climbing some skinny chutes and the owner of the 1000 wanted us to keep the A/F around 11.4. I honestly had no clue where the A/F was at b/c I was going so fast in that skinny chute I had to look 50 yards ahead just to adjust my line!

I really like my TM8. Dang fun sled. TM1000's are just nasty! However, I've seen a lot more TM8's run very good, and not so much with the TM1000.

mmsports, can you shed some light? I noticed this in the "what are you going to do to your proclimb" thread....muy intruguedo

Riding an 08 M1000 Mod with a boondockers RG Turbo. Im with Spoon on the M1000. I have ZERO belt problems on this machine running up to 16lbs of boost on straight C-16:face-icon-small-hap. Lately its been 16lbs every ride and it is Beastly!!!! Clutching and set up is KEY. REGULAR maintenance is a must. The TM8 would deffinitely NOT be comparable to the torque and raw power of the M1T.

Im thinking on the new 2010 chassis with the M1 Turbo stuffed in there as well............:face-icon-small-hap

I find it funny that mulitple people have posted they have zero belt issues yet not one has answered any pm about their magic clutch setup or posted what it is. Please if some one has this figured out then share a little.

I thought so too... but $8400+ for a full kit installed (that's not all gauges) is bull****. I was planning on doing one, hell, I know the original builder, and I won't be buying one now. TOTAL BS for it to be that much $$.
