TSS total fail.

I am giving up on the TSS for my KX500. I've tried several things to get air to the motor, but snow covers the filter and it is game over. It is time to cut my losses and enjoy all the blower pow washington has with my stock airbox, which works just fine.

I am pretty pissed about this. I can't be the only person riding this bike in snow, and the TSS has been out for a while.

If you use the TS filter you need to build a snow deflector.
I will never again buy a open kit. there are enough good closed options available now that there is no more need to deal with this.

I tried a complete shroud plus a snow deflector over the track. My last ditch effort was putting the stock air filter inside a shroud with a deflector. It worked a bit longer, but once it is completely covered in snow the motor just won't run. I am going back to the stock intake until I see something that works in snow.

Does your filter stay clear of snow?

Don't even think of using such a long intake on a 2 stroke, it's just flat out won't work, except if you move to like a 4" pipe right out the carb.

2 stroke need HALF the tuned intake lenght of a 4 stroke, and a untuned lenght will mess your power AND carburation like hell.

I've messed around for so long on my CR250 before finding something that works good that I kept the stock airbox on the KTM300 now.

I mobbed a bunch of blower powder with the stock airbox today. The motor ran flawlessly even as snow stuck to every surface that gets a little warm.

I sure missed the TSS on the moguls and when I wanted to rail a corner, but if the motor won't run it doesn't matter how good the suspension is.

I used the tss intake on my Kx 500. It works fine. No problems

He is using a lectron like myself could be less susceptible to jammed up airfilter because it somewhat autoadjust

I'm battling the same problem with my 450x, Been trying everything I can think of. I have found one big thing is to keep the pod as cold as possible. double wrap the pipe and muffler near the pod, and taking side shields off to promote airflow. Made a huge difference. The colder the pod temp the better been riding neg degree temps front fender deep powder and no problems almost. Only have water ingestion problems now when it gets above freezing. I also have experienced huge power and running problems (with stock carb) trying to plumb the filter to different places, above rear fender. Must be to much line restriction. The closer to the carb the better. I don't even like the elbow to sends with the kit, the straighter the better. The 90 degree elbow also when pointed up also gives water no other place to go but into the carb. Don't feel bad your definitely not the only on fighting this.

The stock airbox on a kX450f or a KX500 is great at seperating snow from air in all conditions I've tried. You might consider giving up on the TSS until someone builds a compatible airbox that works.

No problems at all

I'm really suprised by this. My KX5 wasn't working at all.

My 2011 M8 would bog in over-the-hood powder for the same reason - not enough air could flow through the snow to feed the motor.

Perhaps the difference is the moisture content of the snow. With Timbersled's filter, I could watch the motor trying to suck the filter into the throat of the carb, deflecting the fabric up to 2 cm.

One other thought is if the carb heater is left on and gets extremely hot on the metered carbs it starts to cause issues.... For instance mine wouldn't idle as well ect eventually it would start stalling...... So I installed valves to control how much flow... But it should still run somewhat full throttle....
