trying to header wrap my pipe

I used 100' on mine, it takes a lot more than you think. Getting it wet and using zip ties is the trick to keeping it tight. I used black and it made a hell of a mess but it turned out great, I just need to spray mine

- the longer the better
- the tighter the better
- proper retaining wire to hold wrap in place

Ceramic is forever!

I have given up on wrap after a season of assing around and am having my J and Y pipe ceramic coated.

My definition of assing around is the wrap come off, it breaks down and it powders and gets sucked into the turbo just like the original AC pipe wrap.

For $200 get a ceramic coating, avoid the mess and have superior heat transfer.

Do it before the season because it takes 2 weeks, that's why I wrapped last season - no down time!

What do you do at the seams after you run out of your 50' roll?
The stainless wire, is that one continuos wire throughout the pipe or did you do each seperatly like the zip ties?
Are you guys wrapping stock pipes and hoping that cracks or seams do not develop with boost?
If the pipe cracks, I doubt you could reuse this stuff...

I used the stainless wire at the ends of the pipe and in a few non tapered spots like zip ties, and then wrapped one continuously the entire length of the pipe.

I overlapped the rolls about 4" and stapled them together with a regular stapler (like 8 staples) when I had to join the rolls together.

Anybody wraping the Y pipe too? I know it would be hard to do but that would be the start of the heat loss.

How are you supposed to do this? I tried doing mine myself twice last year .... soaked it in water, put it on wet, let it dry, then sprayed it with the high temp silicon sealent ...... and it unraveled both times and left fiberglass fibers all over my engine compartment.

What gives?

Breeze... that is nice work!!

for ties... I like the panduit

I hope it holds up well. I am hoping that wrapping the safety wire against the garinof the wrap the entire length keeps it in place even if it loosens a bit over time (I got that idea from mmsports picture as its wrapped the same way) and his seem to hold up. Well see what happens. I was surprised at how much of the sealant spray it took to fully coat the wrap.
