Trying to haul 7 sleds in a 5 place trailer

When I bought my trailer it had an aluminum ramp setup in the back. There is a cross bar that connects to a couple brakets that come up off the floor. Then there are 3 ramps- one each for the outside skis and a double wide one for the inside skis. The idea is that you load four normally, then the ramp puts two more sleds up over the seats of the back ones. The problem is that the 2 extra sleds have to be pretty short. And all the extra weight is at the back of the trailer. I've never used it, but that's an idea. You could fab something of steel or wood for a little cheaper.

7 into five

Well I see where you are going with this one. I have seen some very creative "loading" of a trailer before. 1st off what length of sleds are we talking about? brand and style of trailer? That is going to be your deciding factor. 154-and shorter it could be done 163+ you are going to have to be pretty good and not worried if sleds get a little damaged.
I would take skis off and alternate directions of the sleds to maximize the width then if that won't work then look into something to raise the backs from the floor up.
the prob i see with rasing the rear is the height to clear the hood of the next sled. You could solve this by removing the shocks on front get some of the braces they use for shipping from the factory.

Before I answer your question OP, is your trailer rated for the additional weight? If not, I am not going to be answering any questions when you post about how the trailer jack knifed the Excursion on slick road on the way up the mountain because you didn't use a weight distributing hitch or you had twice the tongue weight required.

5 sleds in 4 place yes, 6 in a 4 place pushing it even if you can even fit it. There is a reason GVWR was invented. Are your tires weight rated for 6 adults in the Excursion? If they're 8 ply I bet your pushing the limit. 10 ply probably okay.

You have got lots of good suggestions on this post already, how about letting us know what your setup is so we can help you refine your plan.

Take the skis off the sleds and pull all the tracks and rear suspension. Then you can practically stack the back ends.

Lol

posts like this make me glad I live where I do!!! Hell half the time we have 3-4 trucks with one sled on a deck making the 20 minute drive to the hill! lol
