there is a lot of negative post here about sleds not running and issues here and there...especially about the 800. so im gonna dampin that by saying my sled is AWSOME!

i bought my first iq this fall. got a used(450 miles) 09 assault. the reasoning behind the assault over the dragon is im from mn and like the versitility of the sled. the 146 isnt soooo long and with the option of the 1.35in cobra for around here i opted for the assault.

first thing i did to the sled is buy some FU boards and i give huge probs for such a nice product. easy install...traction is GREAT. after that i sent the rails and spindles in for some black powder coating and all shocks off for a revalve and recharge....freddy lewis over at diamond shock does great work. a slp exhaust set up was then ordered. then i did my home work in clutching and ended up running some mtx weights...64/42 helix with 2 delrin washers and a new primary spring. with that set up and the slp....it is not even compariable to the stock set up! VERY happy with it. my uncle with a 05 900 isnt happy :) i then got rid of the tank stock track and got a cobra for the flat land riding and man it hooks! im on the fence right now weither to go with a 2in challenge with new drivers or 2.5extreme with a drop and roll for when i go out west. next winter hopin to be living out there somewhere. as for next winter i can possibly see a timbersled mt tamer rear skid and possibly a 860 kit or boondockers turbo in the works! hahaha...we will c. we will have to see how deep my pockets are after next seasons alaskian fishing(i deckhand on fishing boats in ak)

i dont have the updated engine work done due to backordered kits but i figured id ride the heck otta it until then and its been running great! couldnt be happier! good ridding guys:):D

these are all the photos i have for now. and i know this isnt the spot(ive checked the classified ads) but if anyone has a left fender for sale let me know. i dont need the side panel but the plastic that the side panel clips into.

Good to hear postitive feed back. Bottom line...we are all playing in a sport that is expensive. You will love that sled, my brother has it and it is a cool sled.

I talked to Gilles at Camoplast R&D, hold off for a while there will be a 2" challenger with 6 drive lugs and center punch soon. I will talk to him again soon and see how its coming. I think this will be the best all around conditions track for the Assault.

good news, but still on guard

My 08 D8 155 has run great in the mountains (WY) for 2 seasons of rides. Rarely had a stumble at 6300rpms, but I could live with it. It's the best handling sled I've ever driven. Had the rebuild in December, and it really runs great. The only thing I've had go bad is the crankshaft position sensor. Yes, I read all these posts about engines, voltage regs, and ECU's blowing, so it tends to make me somewhat leery about going out into the wilderness. I suppose you could "what if" yourself to death. My previous 2000 Polaris RMK was VERY dependable, and that's why I bought the Dragon. I'm trying to look at the glass half full and am hoping for the best. At the same time, you gotta feel for all those who have suffered through multiple breakdowns, and be on guard to possibily of similar issues. I really appreciate all the info that people post here, so at least we are educated on what to look out for.

IF you move out west go for the camo extreme the powderclaw havnt seen one run yet but after all the hype wears off i think it will end up like all the the tracks that come on the cats f/s to buy a camo extreme but i dont know just seems thats what happens everytime cat introduces a new track. the camo is proven time and time and time and time and time again

im liking the sounds of that! would be a quick and easy change. had a challenge on my 144 extended prox and it did very well!

Thumbs Up

Thanks, keep us posted. hopefully its soon.

Sounds like we have similar mods on are assault's .Out west give the 146" challenger extreme 2.5" a try.Was out west last week and it works awesome.I was concerned about buying the "short track" Assault, but not anymore, this thing hooks up!Didn't do a drop and roll on it and it still seems to pull good.It seems to climb better than the longer 155" dragon for the snow conditions we had.

jas123. nice sled! couple questions...what those WE come off of? and is that stock windsheld but jsut cut down? or what u do...mine is missing cuz mom wanted to take a ride...she cracked it off a tree! hahah.

The sled is a 2010 assault and the shocks are the stock WE "needle shocks" with the springs, spindles, and rails powdercoated black.I made the windshield buy cutting out an old edge one I had lying around.Get some poster board, make a pattern and cut with a pair of tinsnips,it was fairly easy.I picked up a new hood at haydays and put the vents on the inside, sorry can't remember the name of the vents.Saw about 5 different companies at haydays, all look similar, bought the cheapest one.I do remember he made custom polycarbonate IQ hoods that had an IQR shape to them.

Glad to hear you like the sled. I love my 700 Dragon, the IQ chassis is the best out there. I hope they get the 800 dialed in at some point and help out all those who have had a ruff go of it. I'd like to get a 800 in a couple of years - IF they get the bugs worked out.
