TRS Clutching [ PART FOUR ]

Thanks for the reply, that's what I got thinking after I got it all back together, doh! And Ok I getcha on the weights. I'm pretty green to the whole clutching thing, usually tinkered lightly and never had too much for issue, but this sled has been a whole nother thing for me. Otherwise the clutching setup on the first start of the trs clutching should work fairly well for me? I did read through up to part 2 last night and many know their stuff and also called it doggy to them for their elevation, I'm not picky my self, just want decent response and belt life. I'm coming off a yamaha apex that had like 3 or 4 seconds of lag.... Mid mount turbo + exhaust leaks caused some of that. This pro is way quicker already haha but the apex rated it when it got moving of course. Thanks!

Yep the first post of the first thread is still very relevant. Lightning weights or Indy Dans turbo weights are what you want.
 
I know it seems most of the information on springs and weights with Tony's helix in these last few threads has been geared towards the Axys.

Maybe I have lost the info on the Pro info but it seems if I remember correctly, the initial start spring number was higher in the Pro and has dropped in the Axys? Sheeve angle I assume?

Wasn't the 165-310 the go to spring for the Pro and the 46-34 helix with a 140-220 sec spring?

Is this spring causing a high engagement in the Axys?
 
I think your right I’m down to a 140 start and it’s now 3900 and smooth black green I think

Yes the spring was/is the 165-310. The only difference is the clutching’s for an 8-9# kit. 76 gram weights at 8-10,000’.
The 140 spring is for the 5# Sidekick pump gas type kits.

The 8-9# clutching may change this winter also. Going to play with different helix and springs.����

I haven’t bent one yet, and I put a bigger notch in the 46-32 side.
You can try it to see if it will catch the reverse notch when in reverse.
 
I think this one is smaller. Only come out once with 180-280 spring.
Didn't work I'll add photo later.

Who made your helix? I ordered 46/34 and 46/32 I asked for twin trax with the polaris reverse cut (which is deeper) and they wouldn't do it, had to get 2 separate helix's if I wanted the polaris reverse cut vs their reverse cut

Just a slight change thought I'd try with a 700.

Here is the 44-50 that came ftom from boondocker.

I have the same reverse cut on my helix and I run a 100-200 secondary spring. Only pops out in reverse when you really hammer on it. Works fine for backing out of the a truck and turning around on the trail.

I bought some custom Helixs through Rec Supply as well. It was way cheaper than ordering from Venom direct. FYI for Canadian buyers.

I've been following these threads and finally decided to do this clutching setup on my 17 axys 163x3 with the sidekick. Most of my riding is between 6000-8000 ft I've got the gears, 68 gram lightnings,46 32 helix coming. My only question is if the 140-330 primary and 140-220 secondary are still the recommended springs to start with for this setup?
 
I followed TRS recommendations and did the clutching. What a difference! I only made it out for one short day and need to get out more. Thanks to Tony and to all for the guidance.

Now I have to figure out how to keep the front end down and decrease the trenching.
 
Here is where we ended up this week on a ‘16 Sidekick
125-175 Red/Gray secondary spring
42-32F helix
70g Lightning weights
150-310 Almond/Blue primary
Gates belt
Secondary set at .130” in from the 191 SLP bar.
Pro pulleys
5 days 350+ miles no belt issues.
Gregg is all smiles
