Troubleshooting blown head shim

No signs of det. I had blended fuel in at the time she went, most of the time I am running just pump premium. My blend I was using was recommended from VP themselves. Whats your guys' opinions of the torco concentrate(easier to transport)

rod bearings

If you have enough head damage you might want to check rod bearing clearence, if it was over boosted it hammers the tops of the pistons down, which causes premature rod bearing failure

Head was checked by engine shop and it is in excellent shape. No warpage at all. She is back together and going to Revy Sunday,

Hey Chad, what's up, it's Cole. Sorry to hear about this. I also wonder about the fuel pump being good to 12-13psi, I've heard the same thing. I have run mine on premium at 2000ft up north at clam lake when it was that cold at 15-16psi on premium and no problems, but I have one of the first kits with the upgraded fuel pump. I was talking to Bruce and them about it, and they kind of thought it might be the fuel you were running?? Were you running that regular with ethanol and blending it with the VP concentrate? I also think it might have been the fuel, I've emailed Sweden and they run a lot higher boost than we do on premium. Ya I know they have a higher octane premium(97-98 octane) but it is rated differently over there, so it equated to being a 93 octane rating here. They are also running the external fuel pumps with their higher boost.

When your sled went down, what did it do? Did it die and shut down or just start running rough? Smoking alot? If it ran what idel rpm would it hold? Ect.
I may have had same situation, just looking for some hope.
Thanks

No bangin, rattlin or shakin goin on, no codes, just as if you turned the key off. No smoke. No fire on a restart, sounded like turning it over with no plugs in it. If it was the fuel, it creates a problem for myself cause premium is not always avail. I carry premium in the trailer but I may have to throw the odd splash of reg in with my race fuel to get home on big days. On a 200 km day I am screwed cause these things have about a 50 mile range on the 7 gallon tank. I am considering the trail tank but still don't help much for those big days.Sad to say it but I may have to go back to a stocker.Very hard to walk away.

I questioned my boost my first trip to Revy this year. I was running 14-15 here but it was venturing off to 18 at elevation which I was told was normal. I was told it was supposed to do that on its own, could this have been the underlying problem???? It is now turned down to 12 for here and we'll see what happens in Revy this time.

I'm pretty sure it was your fuel, I was talking with Darcy today and in short terms you can't mix an alchol fuel, like the ethanol blended regular you used up north, and race gas. The ehtanol blended fuel and race gas do not mix, they will seperate. Alcohol fuels don't mix with "RON" fuels(race gas), but will mix with "MON" fuels(our premium and regular gas).

I pack fuel my fuel when i go to Clam lake and there are no gas stations to be seen for a long time, so.....
I wouldn't give up yet.

The problem is I did pack fuel for the trip, premium and race gas,, problem is we put on too many miles before I could get premium in her. Even with my 2.5 gallon spare I couldn't make it. I will have to consider the trail tank and hope I can get through the day with 13 gallons, goin to be tight. I really don't want to give up.
