trouble removing the clutch Helix

The welding works great if you have a welder! Heat is the only way to get them out and after they are out, throw them as far as you can. Next get the stainless allen head like guido said and good to go. Those are the cheapest bolts I have ever seen!! I think they are 1/4-20 or 1/4-28 thread.

I finally got the last one out with a grinder. I had to grind the head nearly all the way off before I could get it to move, that sucker did not want to come out of there.

Went to ACE, Lowe's, and home depot, none of them have stainless screws that will work. Going to a bolt specialty store on Monday.

They are 1/4 -28 X 5/8 inch.

Do I throw the Torx bolts I destroyed or the factory helix I destroyed, or both?:face-icon-small-ton

Comet before they Strip

If any screw, Allen, Trox starts to strip, take Comet (yes scrubbing type) and dip your bit in it after spitting on the bit. It will provide a ton of friction and biting ability.

Plus, the Comet will fill up any void that may have been created through repeated removal.

The grinder does wonders though.:face-icon-small-hap

lol. glad you got them out, last year i had to weld an allen head wrench to the head of the torx bit to get one off, LOL..worked though.

get that dam helix installed already and quit playing around, haha..

I have them in my hand, I could mail them to you if you would like. It would take a few days though, but let me know, U can have them, work supplies them for me!l Smashing them would be more fun than throwing them!:smash:

How much would it cost to mail me some? I checked another ACE and called two bolt supply stores and no one has them here. I can get black oxide ones. I can also get chrome ones for $3.50 each:face-icon-small-sho

Only place I have found them was online at $2.60 for 8 of them and then $7 to ship them to me.
