Trimmed series IV 2.4" track

I decided to trim my paddles, followed fbombs instructions and cut just below the fingers so they came off in one piece. I did not install any screws. I have just under 2 1/4" paddles now. I will let everyone know what I experience from the mod. I started this thread because I had trouble finding any info on cutting series IV 2.4"... only the newer tracks.

Why? I have hit a brick wall with track speed, and I am running with the "windage" theory. There really is almost no clearance up front with a 2.4" on my chassis.

I'm going to work for a week, then I can get out on the sled. I'm pretty excited to try this out. Stay tuned

dan i did that track mod to all my sleds as well and have been putting it to the test, hard to tell what effect it has made since i changed allot to each sled this year, but i DO know that it makes the paddles much stiffer and dont "fold" over like they used to ;)

Thanks Sean, for...? almost zero feedback lol.
How's the traction loading sleds with this mod? can the sled be stopped before it hits the truck?:face-icon-small-sho
Do you think traction on tree's will be improved?:heh:

haha...

shoot i dont know man, i did it in the summer to all my sleds, and also did so many other mods its hard to say the true effect of the trimmed paddles...

plus the snow this year sucks A..

but ive been in some sketch climbs this year with the 975 and the 700 and they are both RIPPING...so it either helped huge, or im just that good ;)

Well, I had my sled out today for some local riding. Not too much deep stuff, and where it was deep, it was mostly rotten sugar crystal snow with a little wet fresh on top, the rest was moist semi-packed with 3" or so of fresh.

-Hookup on wet spring type packed snow is greatly improved.
-Braking traction is better as well.
-Since the sugar snow is so rotten, traction is a hard thing to judge. At the
very least.... no loss in traction.
-I didn't get any pokes long enough to judge any change in potential track
speed yet.

I just spent 4 days ripping up some local snow, and I have to say that there are no negatives to trimming my track paddles. Ive been riding everything from glare ice access trails, to 4' of reasonably dry powder.

As I mentioned before, traction on packed, or well set up snow is greatly improved. If the track can find a base under the surface, it hooks up and takes off way better than before trimming.

Track speed has increased slightly on long steady climbs, not a whole lot but every mph counts right?

Cruising speed was another great improvement, With 1/4 throttle or less I seem to have picked up a bunch of speed. On longer straight stretches on packed trail I found that she rips right up to her max speed of about 80mph where as before trimming I had to apply more throttle to get it above 70mph. It also seems to accelerate up to top speed much quicker under WOT

Must be working I haven't heard about guido killing a single bumper this year.
