Trick to getting the King Pin out of the lower a-arm 07 Rev?

What's the trick to removing your king pin from the lower a-arm on an 07 rev. I removed the snap ring but it just doesn't want to slide out. Before I go crazy with on it with a hammer.. Am I missing something?

I used an automotive balljoint press. It worked very well for removal and installation. If you're in Canada, Canadian Tire has a tool loaning program if you don't have access to one.

ended up using a hyrdolic press, worked "ok" still had to tap the threads afterwords, next time around I'll try to get my hands on a ball joint press.

Hey guys. Hope this helps, i have removed my fair share. Place a block ( something fairly soft, but solid like wood) under the arm as close to the ball joint as possible. The ski must be dangling. Now using either a piece of brass, or aluminum,as big as possible on the O.D. have your buddy hold it on the top of the ball joint. Watch his throttle thumb! Use a large sledge, and start taking some sharp solid swings. Give it a few hits, and then check to make sure everything except the ball joint is staying put. Repeat the process until its out. this can take sometimes a dozen or more blows. Dont forget to remove the snap ring, and some pre- wd40 can also help. The best way is a press, but not always an option. Sounds crewd, but is effective. Remember, if the ski is not off the floor, it will NOT work. Thanks. Dan with ALTernative Impact.

Sticking one end in a deep socket and pounding on the other end seems to getter done.

that's what I tried, socket slipped ripped the boot, the boot stabilizes the king pin, and keeps the grease in ripped boot..shot king pin. although I was able to super glue it back together and it is holding up until i get my replacement in.

I understand. No two ways about it, they are just a s.o.b. Not sure why they had to make the fit so tight. For the first year i did them this way. A press with the proper set-up, is best.
