Tri Cities Bumper issues...

Has anyone purchased the alluminum bumper made by Tri-cities polaris and had any issues with it?:mad::mad:

DSC02871.jpg

I bought one for my sled last year and shortly after ONE TRAIL RIDE two of the welds broke. I returned the bumper to them and they said that i was the first to have an issue and that i most likely just recieved a bad model and that they would send me a new one. When i got the new one back on i headed out for another ride and again, same issue, broken welds at the tabs. They are now telling me that i must be doing something wrong on the install or beating it up too bad and that they wont return it. the bumper comes with directions a 4 year old could follow....it aint difficult in the least. One thing about this bumper is that u have to cut half the plastics off and remove the front radiator to install it....so with this bumper breaking im left with only part of my sled and i cant ride it!

Anyone out there having these issues? or am i the only one?:(

Is your bulkhead cracked? This would cause an excessive load on the the bumper. I have two sleds with the TCP bumper and have not had any issues with either one.

I have never had anything but excellent experiences with Tri-City!!

My guess is there's more to this story. What sled do you have it on?

I'm not about to pick sides on this, but I think I would be going over your sled with a fine toothed comb. Something sounds like it might be flexing in a manner it shouldn't.
It is possible you got a couple of bad ones, but very unlikely. I've only heard good things about that bumper. Either way, I hope you get it worked out.
Oh, I believe it is actually Tri City Performance.

I have mine and have had ZERO problems. I also think that something must be overly flexing in your bulkhead. I have not heard of a single problem with any of their bumpers. (Except for yours of course)

Did the run-through

Both my mechanic and i have gone over the sled numerous times to look for that exact issue and have found nothing wrong. I have worked for snowmobile shops and have personal friends who own shops too and we know what to look for... the sled is A O.K. :face-icon-small-dis

Tri City Polaris is an OUTSTANDING company! I have bought 10's of thousands of dollars of merchandise from them both for my dealership and for myself and NEVER had any issue with getting things covered under warranty if it was indeed a warranty issue! This did not include me "hitting" things or them breaking from rider error!

Not trying to take from your claim, however you may have another problem other than the manufacturer!

It's installed on an 06 900. well there is no way i can prove to anyone that i didnt hit anything. all i have is my word. Tri city has been great to me, i just have an issue with a part. its nothing against them, im just in a hard position right now. the reason why i got the bumper is because its said that its stronger than the stock bumper...my stock bumper was taken out by a tree, and the new (advertised as stronger) front bumper broke on a trail ride...both times. something isnt right here and i know its not my sled, and not an extreme amount of abuse. Dont see me as someone complaining about a company, im just looking for answers.

Huh. I ordered my bumper in june; still haven't seen it yet... supposedly it's shipping early next week. It's going on my '06 900; we'll have to see if I have any issues with it.

Max and Tri-City are top notch guys give them a call and work something out this is the first I have head of it.

I have 2 of em installed.
07 700 dragon and an 08 700 RMK.
1500 miles on each sled and we arn't kind to our sleds.
Zero problems, I do have to figure out how to get tree sap off em, but that's not their problem.
Did it break in the exact same place each time??
If so, there has to be an alignment problem of some kind.

WTF?!?!?!?!?

Why has it not shipped yet? I would be exchanging some words with them if I had to wait even a fraction of that amount of time!!!

That's just bad business right there Mule:eek::eek::eek:

Why not take it off and have it welded locally. I know it may not be the best solution for you, but it will not cost anymore than shipping it back would. For me it is easier to take it to one of my suppliers, weld it, install it, see if it breaks, if not good. it it breaks then its obviously something else.
Let the manufacturer know and carry on with life...

I to have a bumper like this on me 05 900 rmk 159. i ran it most of the year last year till the end of the season it broke at the 2 bottom tabs. i was trying to figure out if it was the vib. or the sled. I did how every figure out that with the TCP bumper on as you drop into a creek bed or down to a road coming off the hill the bumper will hit before the skies start to lift the front of the sled. I went to a 166 later on quess what made it wores. so you might look at that and modify the bottom of the bumper or do what i am doing put a 09 front end on it so that the skis lift the sled and not the nose good luck

Ive got one on my 07 700 and it has taken some serious abuse with no problem. If I had to guess it would be from the excessive vibration that the 900 has naturally.

Even if you have to have it welded once a year whats the big deal, better than sending it off and waiting

Weld it up and add a couple braces, you already said they aren't raking it back again.

tri city manufactures that bumper and if i have it welded by anyone else i will be voiding the warranty. move on to another thread bud

You asked a question.

If you don't like the answer, DON"T ASK.
People wonder why they don't get responces to questions, this would be why.
