TrailTank Install

I'm having trouble getting my TrailTank to fit correctly. The MCX charge tube does not appear to be in the way and on that side i can get it pretty close. Looks like it's hitting (or very close) the throttle cable bend. I need the right side to slide in more for the holes to line up with the plastics. It looks like it is hitting one of the cooler lines. I have 2 MCX braided cables fished through that side but it doesn't appear to be a problem.

How close is the breathe nipple on the center top side to the steering hoop?

I am not installing this on a stock tunnel so i don't have bolts to line up to.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have done a lot of searching and i know this is a tight fit.

MTdream, you posted some pics a while back but they don't seem to load anymore.

Mine has quite a bit of interference with the fuel filter. I am going to space the radiator forward 1/4".

My tank won't fit completely forward so I had to modify the rear seat tie-down bracket to align the bolt hole.

Also, the stock tank tie down bolts were to shots so I had to weld a longer stud on to make them usable.

It would have been much easier if it had been installed wheb the turbo was done.

I CAN"T GET IT TO FIT! yes i am yelling

i can slide it in all the way but can't get the top to sit low enough in the steering hoop. Did anybody run into interference with the stock cooler tubes?

I ran into the same problems as you. I just could not get it to fit how I wanted it too and I could not accept the way the panels did not line up properly. I ended up selling the tank. If you are not happy, call Seth at trail tank. He was willing to do whatever it took to make me happy with regards to the tank, including giving my money back which he did do.

ohh man that is not what i want to hear. I REALLY want this tank. The functionality of it is a MUST.

It seems like lots of people are getting their tanks to fit fine so i must be doing something wrong. It is very important that i get everything lined up nice and clean. I am going with a BR Tech hood and i don't believe it flex's as much as the stock hood.

I hear ya, I tried for days and days to get it to fit the way I wanted. I just could not compromise that much on fit and finish.

Same here, Mine was exactly like that to. Also spent days and days never got it to fit properly first or last. Nice tank just don't fit.

I was gonna buy one until I saw a couple installed. Looked horrible

Me too....just couldnt do it....I'll pack on extra small gas can on the back to make up for it. They should have made it better for the amount of time they soent on it IMO.

ok got it on... well kind of.

how taut is your hood plastic?

I have no heat shield and loosened and moved the wire harness forward. The throttle bend is in the tank slit.

Sorry I did not call you, got swamped with interviews for new folks, and could not break away...will try and call tomorrow...worst case will call Thursday on my way to go elk hunting...

Update!

Got it to fit. The plastics take a little work to get it to fit clean. It's a tight one.

I have a the fix!

BR Tech is making race hoods. They are gonna send me mine without the rear part of the hood cut out or the holes drilled. That way i can make sure their are no gaps and hopefully the fit will be much cleaner.

My main problem with this whole process is all the aftermarket parts going on this sled and expecting it all to fit like factory is not realistic. However just communicating with the manufactures can really help.

Stay tuned
