Getting ready to install. Going with ARC Audi amp and speakers. Contemplating a sub but not sure how much power it will use. Any feedback on how sub use affects battery usage?

Not to highjack this thread, but would be interested in seeing how (pictures) stereos are being mounted in trailers.
Want to mount one in my trailer, but would like to see what is being done first so that I can hopefully do it right the first time!

no highjack - that is the purpose of my post :)

Can't speak for anyone else, but in the new trailer I just got from Mirage I WISH I had ordered in a few Subs AND some better higher end speakers!

Considering its a CLOSED REFLECTIVE environment inside of a sled trailer you will not need a ton of power. I would like 2 subs, one small in the front mounted inside one of the cabinets pointing down and an identical one at the rear in the same configuration.

And maybe some nicer marine grade 3 way speakers.

Do make absolutely CERTAIN your speakers/Subs are 100% WATER PROOF marine speakers though. otherwise the humidity inside the trailer after a long weekend will destroy them.

I am running a fairly large stereo in my Snowpro trailer. I have 4 Alpine 6x9 mounted in four corners of the trailer. I am running 110 watts to each 6x9. I also have 2-10" JL Audio subs in a ported box mounted right under my cabinets. I am running 1200 watts to the subs. I run a alpine head unit with bluetooth and mounted on the roof is 2 flip down TV's. Mounted 2 amps in the cabinets on the wall. The sound system is killer. Sounds so clear and real loud. The subs pound. I am trying to find some good pictures of my install. I am running 2 batteries and its been 2 years now with no problems. No need to spend the extra money on Marine grade audio. I don't even run that in my boat and never have problems.

sounds like a killer system, would love to see some pics when you get a chance.

how long can you run that set-up on your 2 batteries? do you have a heater as well?

Yes I have a heater as well. 35,000btu forced air. Depends. If running it load on full draw I can go a few hours for sure. Hasn't been a problem yet. I also have 8-12volt fluorescent lights in there too. Lol if it becomes a problem ever just add another battery. Cheap fix.

Here is the trailer I just sold. No subs but the next trailer will have at least 1 maybe 2 and I am going to put speakers outside. Now if someone can post some pics of where to mount them. I am thinking up in the front of the v nose would work.

I use my Dewalt construction radio and bunjee strap it on top of my electrical junction box. Nothing custom but works great! I have 2 12 Volt/Cig power outlets on the junction box as well. Great for charging the phone and Ipod.

I was looking through an Overton's boat magazine the other day. They have some cheap, waterproof receiver/speaker combos. Boss audio, nothing fancy there, but you wouldn't be using that much. You could mount an external antenna, if you want the radio. I mainly use my Ipod or stream music from my phone.

If I ever add a receiver and speakers, I think I wouldn't add a sub.
A subwoofer would need a decent amount of power to sound good; usually at least 100W for smaller ones. The extra current draw for the sub and amp I don't think would be worth it if you're only running off 1 battery. If you have an extra battery or AC source, that's a different story, then plenty of power available.

I am going with JL audio speakers, 2 or 4 10". I think I have 2 in my garage. I am thinking about mounting them in the roof.

I have this Alpine head unit that I will put close to the door of the trailer. It will have an iPad on a wall mount connected to the head unit.

This remote will be at the back of the trailer to control the music.

I will have 6-8 JL 6.5" speakers in the roof.

As for amps 2 - 700w 5 channel amps. I can't remember which I picked out, I have everything except for the amps for my build.

As for power, that would be roughly 1600W at max power which would draw 133 AH at 12V.

finally made some progress on my install:

whipped this out on the laser:

used 3m spray adhesive and put scrap tiles of armaflex insulation from a job at work to line the nose for insulation and sound. put a layer of gorilla tape between all parts when mounting to reduce rattles and put several strips of 1/4" foam gasket on the back of the aluminum plate. has a pretty good sound - not hollow which i was worried about

mostly done, just need to trim the wood and get my 120v installed:

Do u have any pics of the furnace install? I haven't seen one installed like that yet. How are u venting it?

^^^That the factory install from charmac. Vents down the nose (galvanized pipe on left). Trailer is 7' height so there's still 6'1" underneath. There are 2 vents up front plus its ducted along the right side of the trailer. Works pretty well at getting the air to the rear of the trailer.
