sorry if i sound ignorant, but if i throw the clips away and replace the mounting studs with bolts what exactly would be keeping the seat in place?

Your dealer should have them for sale. If not ask them to special order one for you

I'd call the guys at Jaws and ask them what to do for the dent. Those are pretty killer pipes, bet that thing rips. I wouldn't want to be in the garage where that pipe blows under pressure.

I agree.. i have already had a little mishap with my propane torch catching fire at the neck and me dropping it on the concrete floor right next to my grandpas car so i think i may leave it to some more experienced hands or call jaws. anyways here is a picture of the dent in question

After seeing the pic, just leave it. I ride a thumper dirtbiking, but you should see the dents in my riding pals two stroke pipes, yours is nothing. But call jaws anyway and let us know what they say to do.

Nice looking sled i think the spitz nail method would work pretty well also. I have a buddy that runs a body shop and I've seen him do some amazing things with one of those.
