traction control on Gm

Does any one have a way to remove the traction control. Traction control is fine if all I do is drive in town. But when I get out of town for work what a joke. I'm on my third time getting stuck when pulling a trailer. I know all people that are going to read this will say reach over turn on 4x4 or turn of traction control. Yes I can do that, but dam thing keeps coming on runnig down gravel roads. Also when you hit the button to turn it off that is not 100% off either.
One other time I had gotten stuck in a driveway where we had been driving semis in and out.
GM is not any help. Service guys look at me like I'm a idiot. Getting real tired of having a pickup that can get stuck on a pile of wet dog poo. Any one have a real good solution. I'd rather not trade pickups.

Yes it is a major PIA!! but a few dealers here told me they can't program it so that its off all the time. Don't know if thats true or not? maybe some aftermarket programmers can? Could check over at the dieselpage.com and see if theres any legit way around it.

As for the traction control, you have to actually push the button in and hold it like 3 or 4 seconds until it says "stabilitrac off" in the dash. Then you can let her buck!

does it turn it self back on like the new fords do once wheel speed gets past 35??

my 150 is going in for driveline and 4x4 issues i am having them give me a fuse layout and hopefully wiring diagram and there will be some cutting involved on my part since i am getting the cross eyed look from everybody till they pucker up a bit and go for a spin

I have the same problem with my 2010 GMC. The company I work for gave it to me to use as a work truck and I agree the Traction Control is a PIA!!!! You can turn it off my using the button, but by then I'm already stuck because I forgot it was on. They are horrible in snow, spit/sputter then you are stuck. Any yes, you are correct when you turn them off, they are not off 100%. They can unprogram them, but won't because of safety standards. I used to do alot of night work as a Law Enforcement officer, the truck I was given was a Chevy. I had to have my state write a letter to Chevrolet's Corporate requesting the local dealership unprogram my daytime/Auto headlights. We also had to agree that GM was no longer responsible for any lawsuits or accidents that that particular truck could bring. They sent me a letter to present to the Service Department and he still didn't want to do it, but eventually did. I did not need my headlights on while sitting stationary at night with the truck running. So, Yes they can do it, but they probably won't. Liability reasons.

maybe the new ones are different but with my 08 and 09 you just have to hold the button down a few seconds like i described. Then it'll spin the tires as fast as you can turn em. An no it does not reset if you go faster than a certain speed. Just when the truck is shut off or you press the button again

on my 11 denali pickup you have to hold the button down for a few seconds to turn off both the traction control and the stability track..other wise it only shuts off traction control and it still acts up when you get on it..
