TRACKS 2.25 or 2.5 or 3.0..

I have a 2005 Skidoo summit 800 with a 151" X 16" X 2.25" tracks on it. It seems to perform well and I am happy with how it has worked, but it is showing it wear and so I'm thinking about putting some new shoes on it.

To add my sled has a 2.0" X 2.0" drop and roll on it from Van Amburg so I have quite a bit for clearance.

My question: Would I notice a difference if I went to a 2.5" or a 3.0" track? Is there any issue with any of the new taller lug tracks? Lastly, do you think a 154" would sneak under the ol' 151" tunnel?

Thanks,
Brent

After seeing guys have clip and lug issues with the 3" I would recommend the 2.5" track. I used to have a 162" track under a 159" tunnel so I think you should be ok.

154 fits with 8" wheels and offset rear axle mounted backwards (been running one for over 4 years now on mine). I'd go 2.5" too unless you have Utah powder everyday to ride and high-marking is your only priority. I like having more track speed (you lose 4-5 mph top end speed for every 1/4" lug height) so the 2.5" is a great compromise. Stick with the Challenger Extreme, other designs haven't worked as well.

Have FUN!

I've got a 154 under a 151 tunnel and it's close. I'm kicking around the idea of finding a 159 cooler and tunnel extension with the eventual swap for a 156X16X3.
