Track vibration?

I got a 2011 assault rmk and I swapped out my 2.1 competition track for a 5.1 series 2.4 lug track. I lost 11 pounds roughly and I moved my front skid mount up to the hole that the pros use and I notice I have a lot more vibration is this because I moved my skid and it's a different track? Or could I have my track to tight? I don't have a 10 pound weight to test track tension but I should have it about right. But not sure why there's more vibration like a lot more....?

I find them quite vibey, I was getting concerned with my 12' stock 163' track with extroverts (2k miles)......then I jumped on my buddies 13' with 500 miles and introverts and it was just as vibey.

It's gonna drive me nuts because my sled was so smooth before! But that competition track just wanted to dig so that drove me more nuts ha I'm gonna try losing it up a turn and see what happens don't see why it would help out the vibration but it's worth a shot

Yeah the 2.4 track definitely has tractor mode on trails. It wanders and bumps a lot more than a comp track, but as you observed it doesn't dig holes quite so easily.

This thread just reminded me that I need to adjust my track....:face-icon-small-sad for some reason I hate that task.

Check to see that the track is not rubbing anywhere.

I assume that you are still using the stock drivers.

Check to see that the drivers are centered in the inside drive nubs and also that the center driver is centered in the middle windows of the track.

Make sure that the track has enough tension...go to Target/K-mart/Wallmart/Big-5 and get an inexpensive small iron 10 lb dumbell and set track tension correctly.

Moving the rear skid to the upper hole should not in itself cause vibration when you had assault rails and moved it to the RMK position... (For other s reading.... Cant say that for the RMK to Assault position as the rail tips are too straight to do this)

Moving up the skid WILL give more ski pressure and more steering effort though.

Good luck.

Pulled my skid last spring and somehow didnt get it running center in the tunnel and noticed the same thing. adjusted everything using the tentioner bolts and up on a stand to get it tracking straight and everything was smooth again. Prob not the case for you but is one more thing to ck

We found out last week that the mag side driver walked over to the left about 1/3". How that happened, I'll never know.

Mine was smooth today but it sure makes more noise than stock.
Less vibration now...just as much noise.
