Track Stuck

My friend rode his 2018 RMK up the snow packed road about a 1/2 mile without the scratchers down and the track appeared pretty warm. It looked like the rubber was actually melting. He shut off the sled and then the track seized. We removed the quick drive belt and everything seemed good until the large quick drive cog. We couldn’t roll it or the track. Any suggestions?

Sounds like the track welded to the hyfax. Use a rubber mallet or pry bar to free it, and assess damage. Sometimes the track is fine and what looks like melted rubber is actually material from the hyfax.

Or, lay it on its side and kick down on the track over the top of the machine to release the track. If not bad, it will pop off and then roll over to the other side and repeat. That's how I've done it (sadly enough) on the trail.

Clips melted to the hyfax. Scratchers aren't just for engine cooling they lube/cool your hyfax (sliders) as well.
