Track Speeds "In" Snow

One thing i think a LOT of people, espeically the turbo yami crowd is that they swap to smaller drivers when going with bigger tracks..

stock is 10 tooth intro's 2.52 pitch.. 25.2" circumfrance
lots going to 7 tooth 3 pitch = 21" circumfrance... that creates a error factor of 25.2/21 which is 1.2... meaning your speedo is reading 1.2x your actual speed... so say your speedo reads 100mph.... your actual speed is 83 mph.

just food for thought, I know i thought my speed was awsome on my old sled, then i remebered i had that same driver swap... took it back to normal levels..

I have the speedo sensor hooked up on the yamadoo, so ill get some numbers when i take it out!

on spring snow i have seen about 40mph on my 700 rev 151.. m7 153 43mph and 36-38 in deeper snow.
Stock drivers on Nytro and Apex MTX are 7tooth 3 inch pitch. To my knowledge there are no smaller 3 inch pitch drivers. Guys going from the short tracks will be slightly different.

Ground speed and track speed are 2 different things.
All I know is 100 mph up hill on hardpack (like the Big Dawg drags) is crazy fast for a mountain sled with forced air. Then track speed in 2'+ pow will be 30%less with ground speed less again......but still faster than most chainsaws boosted or not:p:eek:
Happy track speed!! lol
RS

My bone stock D7 will only pull 38-40mph with a 163 on a good pull.(in powder,2ft+/-)

sorry, i was just looking at my rx1 ones... they must have changed em.. and maybe the rx1's are only 8 or 9 toothers, either way, i know a lot of people swap drivers for smaller to fit stuff on some sleds and they get WAY confused.. i know a kid whos M1000 was in KPH and he was saying he was pulling 85mph track speed bone stock, i laughed at him but he was convinced.

Need to turbo I guess

2000 Z-120 with governor bypassed and my 9 year old son riding it.......8mph in 8 inches of the sickest powder you will ever see. Cant wait to put a pipe on it. Pretty sure that will get him like 20mph............Back in the real world though my M8 with an Slp setup pulls a consistent 38 to 42 at 10k in the fluff.
