Track ripped?

Hey guys I recently purchased a 2012 pro rmk 800 with around 600 miles I'm pretty new to high end snowmobiles but downloaded the service manual and started learning, this forum is a big help btw some very knowledgeable guys on here. When I got the snowmobile I hadnt realized how the slides were worn and they soon let go. At the time all I could get were slides for the gen 2 chassis which are pretty similar just slightly thinner however they fit fine and seemed to work good. When I replaced those I noticed how loose the track was so I tightened it to the manual spec of 0.5 inches but noticed some significant wear on the center ports where the drive cog contacts the track with tears in some spots with the layers separating. Now just yesterday after a short ride I noticed the track is split right along the grouser bar from the center port almost too the windows, just in one spot however. Now I'm really not sure how this happened as I've been treating the sled very easy and I know I need a new track but just don't want this to happen again as tracks aernt cheap. So does anyone have an explanation, any advice stories of this happening before? Anything that would help me out in the future? Oh and if anyone had a track forsale feel free to p.m me thanks.

I think the center port tracks are suspect to this damage. A fixed object with a small top gets into the port as the track is spinning and pulls on the fiber glass rod and causes the damage as you have.

Just had this happen to my track this wknd and was caused by a beaver stump.

First pic shows no lug damage, but the crossbar is separated from the inside belt of the track.
Second pic is after I cut lug off and rode it for about 60mi. Sounds like similar damage from center port almost to track windows.

Can't see the pictures but as you describe it is very similar this puts my mind at ease as I was suspecting the track tension to be an issue as when I saw it was loose I tightened it to spec and it seemed very tight but being used to Japanese motocross and sport bikes where following the service manual to the letter is a must I went with it. Oh well lesson learned no more riding in low snow conditions
