Thinking of replacing my 163 off of my 09 d8. Is the challenger extm. the best for powder? any advantage to change pitch? has anyone removed center extovert? mine seems to collect ice in the spring. I have also heard that ported tracks are not the way to go now. will the challenger extm 2.5 clear the bulkhead?

The clearance with the stock 2.4" track isn't enough in many peoples opinion so going with the 2.5" Challenger, the option would be to do a Fastrax Drop n Roll or go with the new design 7 tooth drivers from Avid.

Some have went ahead and installed the 2.5" Challenger using the stock drivers and not doing a D&R however, I can guarntee there is track rubbing on the the cooler.

The direct replacement Challenger 2.5" 2.86 pitch track has the center ported for the stock center driver. If you didn't want to change drivers and did the drop n roll with the 2.5 challenger, you could remove the center driver. However, you'd be better off if you're going through with the expense of changing out the track to order a set of the new design drivers from Avid.
