What do you guys think, track porting a good thing?? It would seem that it is let weight, rolls over easier.. Any reason not to Swiss cheese this thing?.. 136"

Swiss Cheese it !

Weight reduction is ridiculous (sub 1#) but the rolling restistance is greatly decreased. Doesn't trench badder, floats as good. That's what I noticed last year when I did my 144.

oh, and here's the pattern I made last year, I used the top one.

Use hole saws that you sharpen, spin backward with a hand drill. Good thing to do when you have an evening to kill.

The more :beer;:beer;:beer; you drink, the less you smell the burning rubber. So it all depends if you like the smell of burning rubber or not.

Track porting

Has anybody done track porting to there Hawk. If you have what is your opion of how it worked? Just thinking of doing it but dont want to waste my time if there is little to no gain.

Your going to have to do something if you think your gonna hang with the big hammer, heheheheheheheheheheheheehe.:D

porting

I did it last year. I think it really helps keep snow out of track and rails. I did 3 1" holes.

The main difference I noticed was that the track bends easier so it's easier to get it to go fast around the stock 6.5" idler wheels and 7" front drivers. Frees 2-3 HP on an 800 that's for sure. You're gonna carry less snow and it'll allow more snow to get through the holes instead of being processed in our tiny clearance tunnel, which here will help in the deep staff.

The only con is if you want to go through water with it but here i'll suggest get a boat and a fishing rod instead of your Hawk, you might end up with a boat load of fun instead of a crane fück...

Here's the template I made if you want to do it. Last year I did, 5/8"-1"-5/8" and worked great.

My suggestion to everyone is : just do it. Frees an HP or two, at least.
