Track noise... help?

I got my bro's 2007 Dragon 700 hand-me-down and the track is noisy. It sounds like "baseball cards in the spokes." He says its the drivers but I have no clue. Any suggestions?

Also, the tunnel has a small crack in the side (he is extremely hard on everything). How would they repair this? Is it pretty extensive or fairly simple fix? Should I do it before this season or is it ok to wait?

Thanks! This forum is great.

If you have to drive it with the crack drill a little hole at the spot where the crack stops. This may stop it from spreading. Your track could be loose and, or not aligned on the rear suspension. Or your rear suspension could be loose and, or broken which could explain the noise and the crack. The longer you wait to fix it the more expensive it gets.

I have heard that same noise twice, once was track out of line, and the second time my son jumped an aproach in the ditch with a long track, landed on the back end of skid and put a bow in it from left to right!

Try tightening the track first, depending on where the crack is in the tunnel, some snow eliminators may help reinforce or strengthen the spot

Best of Luck

Thanks all! How do i tighten the track? or is it best left to a pro? The crack is down near the sno eliminators, slightly above, headed toward the gas tank.

I personally have fixed many a crack or tear in the back portion of snocross sled tunnels. Should be able to find someone with either a wire feed welder with mini-gun or a tig welder.

Another item to look at to possibly diagnose or eliminate the track noise that sounds like cards in the spokes would be the black plastic rail tips on the front of the rail ends. These will occasionally loosen and will make a vibrating clatter as the track rolls by and around the front radius of the rails,

rail boots

My plastic boots on the rail ends came loose and made the same noise. Drill out the rivet holes and stick a bolt through and call it good.
