track lug studs

Any one running bottom line track lug studs on either a cut down 5.1 or the competition track in a Pro chassis? any problems? Thanks.

Seems to me you'd be asking for trouble. Imagine your track spinning in the pow and the lug studs catching on a log or rock or something. The fact the MFR says they don't recommend extended running over 50 MPH suggests to me it's difficult to keep them in place.

If you were talking about regular studs I would agree, but I wouldn't think these screws would hook into wood or a rock hard enough to cause a problem. I could be wrong. I didn't realize speed was an issue so that could be a problem since 50 to 60 mph cruising happens for me sometimes when the going is easy. Also not sure if putting the screws in would cause lugs to get ripped off more easily.

Maybe in the meaty Assault track it would work, but I wouldn't think it would be a good idea in a flimsy Series 5 or 5.1. Don't imagine the lugs would hold up over time.

I'd put them in the competition track. I want some traction on the ice in the flat land of MN. and MI. I'm not worried about wood, the lug may tear with a stud or not. I have a 5.1 I put on for the mountains. Just wondered if anyone had them on and if they tore up the tunnel or not?
