track clearance issues for IQ RAW

Chris Kasel at Carls doesn't like running Anti-ratchet drivers and was having special Powerclaw specific drivers being made but the company that was making them is no longer making them. This was as of a couple weeks ago. He was hoping to have another source for them soon.

Jack and the crew Carl's haven't liked combo drivers for a while...

It dates back to the old days of multi ply tracks, Wahl "no-slips" etc...Back then... I agree that, back then, they were not as efficient as the involute only stock drivers.

I'd like to see if they have evaluated/compared (on the sleds) this new AVID driver, with stock track tension, on a single ply track with Anti-stabs installed... It really is that much better.
From this thread: "NEW STYLE AVID DRIVERS FOR ALL PITCHES!!"

Wow... SLP and Wahl have both discontinued the involute sprockets for the 3" made by PPD in addition to Carl's...

Looks like Carl's may be running the new style Avids if they are liking the Power Claw that Jack was so excited about last season... hmmm... or running a different track now??

no they are still huge fans of the PC. still have some sets of involute only drives left. (just bought some last week) chris said they has a new manufacturer for drivers but they aren't in yet. at least that is how i understood him. i really went back and forth on the new drivers. the deciding factor for me was not having to cut the rails on my brand new sled. we'll see how the PC works on the pro this year and then decide if i go with the new drivers. just realized i didn't ask what tooth drivers he sent me... hmmm, that wasn't very smart. just told him to send the drivers with the track. oh well, we will see how it turns out... (i doubt it is going to suck!) i too would really like to see carl's run some test when the new tracks and new style avids. hint, hint...

Pura...the PPD drivers for the 3" pitch (involute from Carls) only came as 8 tooth.

The lug tip clearance with the 2.25" 8 tooth PPD's on the 2.25" PC track (true 2.25") is actually less than the stock 5.1" 2.4" (true 2.33) track.

Old, proven, methtods/thoughts are hard to change for some... I already know my opinion as do some others on the new drivers like Brad Story... It's a whole new design...

I have installed/ran the 7 tooth 3" pitch AVID drivers on the Power claw, and I can tell you they are night and day smoother than the previous Avids on the same track or other 3" pitch tracks... IMO... they turn as smoothly as the involute only drivers.

If you haven't read the first few posts of this thread... AND the AVID Driver thread...please do... there is a lot of info in them.

Good luck keep us posted.

You will have to buy a 16 wide track...the 3" paddle tracks only come in 16" wide... Are you prepared to cut into a $1000 track?
