Torsion Axle Life Expectency?

Does anybody know what the life of a torsion axle is. The trailer just sits all summer loaded with sleds seems like the rubber in the axles would start to give out.

Are you asking miles or years?

I'm using a Featherlite car trailer that we bought last June, 2011. I have towed it about 85 ,000 miles and it was just serviced last week and I've pulled it 3800 miles since. This trailer has had a car or truck on it since day 1. 3400 - 7000 pounds always.

I had a Floe enclosed trailer that I used for 3 years. It was used about 11,000 miles a year and it would sit for a while and then I would check the air in the tires and tow it 2000 miles.

No problems either way.

My trailer is 6 years old, No issues yet. Sits all summer being used 2-3 times total.

if you are worried about them jack them up and put stands under the trailer all summer,so the axles hang who knows you might get a extra 20k out of them

I have seen ones that have over rotated, then they are just f#(ked and have to be replaced, they were way over loaded though.

Axle Life

I replace the axles on our Haulmark trailer 1999 that had Dexter axles in it. Put new Dexter axles back in place of the old ones. Was told that the life of a torsion from them should last about 10 YEARS.:face-icon-small-coo

My first torsional axle trailer was 21 years old when I sold it, and it still worked great!

i have seen them on livestock trailers that are 15 to 25 years old, who knows how many miles. I personally think they will out do springs every thing being equal.
