TORS Code 84.. Danger

remove the headlight pod open up the rubber wire housing unplug the single wire coming from the throttle, hook the single with the white connector to the single with the black connector, leave the one coming from the throttle hanging. buy a normally closed tether and install. cat style tether.. opens the circuit when the tether is pulled. pol and doo ones ground the ignition to kill the engine and wont work.. google pingle or gunnar killer tether switches.

Running without a tether is asking for trouble,I have two tether kits for the Apex left, this a stock Yamaha kit and it keeps the TORS works properly.

TORS Throttle Over Ride System Makes the sled run like crap when engaged. Kicks in when the throttle sticks wide open. Can also kick in with an incorrectly adjusted throttle cable. Has been a know problem with Yamaha sleds. See lots of them disconnected. When disconnected it will allow your sled to launch off a cliff, hit your house, a tree should your throttle stick.

I read back thru this and those are some stupid repeated questions I asked.. I disconnected the tors just like Obile said.. Oh and it tells you in the manual too, and gives you the wiring diagram.. Then I am running a tether off the kill switch wires.. I think I will be happy..

thanks
Tony

I never had a problem with tors until I boosted my sled. With boost if you release the flipper too fast the boost keeps the throttle bodies open too long and throws things out of sync and activates the tors. I've just learned to release the throttle a little slower and now I don't have a problem

X2...but I'm going to disconnect the TORS. I hate it when you need to let off the throttle quick and the sled just buries itself because the TORS kicks in.

BTW does anyone know of a tether that can lock up the brakes if you fall off?

I am looking to bypass the TORS on a 2003 RX-1. I took off the padding on the handlebars and found 4 wires coming from the throttle assy. I pulled the 4wire connector apart and lost ignition. To override the TORS which of these wires do I do what to? Thanks

the bron and the brown/white go to your kill button they need to be hooked back up to get ignition. the black/ yellow and the black are for the tors switch.
there may or may not be a coupler for these 2 wires under the cowl. if so disconnect them and connect them together going to sled and leave the two disconnected coming from the bars because the switch is no longer used so need to. hope that helps.....

Lefty

Yes, you need to disconnect TORS to run lefty throttle. Then use pingel thether kill! i have no kill switch either.

Is it unsafe to run a lefty throttle with the TORS still activated? I can think that if the lefty throttle stuck the throttle open it wouldn't engage the TORS, is this the concern? Or is there another reason?
