Ask your kids, that what I did. Torrents are just a way to share files. Music, software etc. Google it if you want to know more about it and a better description on how it works. Ya is kinda cool.

Torrents are files that are openly shared on the internet. You search for the torrent that you want adn download it. You will need utorrent or equivelant on your PC/Mac in order to get the files. I use it to get entire albums and discographies of the artists I want. When you are downloading you are a leacher. Once you finish downloading it, you become a seeder.

Certain torrent sites expect you to keep a certain number of seeds in your folder in order to have access to the rest of the file listings. If you move the downloaded file to another location on your computer and delete the torrent and data others can't leach.

Depnding on your connection speed, full length movies can take 4 to 20 hours to download. TV shows, movies, music, programs, games etc. are all available.

A word of caution though. There is alot of **** available and many torrent sites will cater to it. Even ones that don't there is still an underlying connection to the **** industry. It's all good if that floats your boat but if you're setting it up for your 11 year old to downlaod skateboard videos, be warned.
