torque #s on turbo

I am curious what the tq.#s are on these turbos. I always see people talking horsepower doesnt the torque pull you up the hill?

NO ! is always the horsepower thath pull you up the hill (even on low rpm) , tourqe # does nothing without rpm , when you have tourqe and rpm you have hp , and the hp does the work , you can easy calculate the tourqe # if you have hp and rpm with this formula : 5252 X hp / rpm example: ( 200 hp / 8000 rpm = 131 fp )

a engine with a high tourqe # will not automatic have a broad powerband , it can be a peeky engine with only low revs , if you instead have a dynochart with hp and rpm you have all performance information of the engine even without the tourqe ...

The age old battle, which is more important, HP or torque? Truth is, both. You can't have one without the other. Torque could be defined as a measurable twisting force, while HP is simply the ability to do work. HP, as stated above, is mathmadically derived from torque and RPM. My idea of an ideal engine has a very flat torque curve that holds well as RPMs climb. Don't sell torque short. If you like the feeling of lots of lowend get-up-and-go while not having to have your sled's motor screeming to get it done, then you like torque.

Which would you rather pull a 100,000 pound load up a steep grade with, a 400+ HP 2010 Camaro or a 400+ HP Kenworth making its power at around 2100 RPM, or less, instead of 6000? Maybe that's not a good example. Torque gives you the feeling you can climb anything, while HP allows you to climb anything....with your ars on fire. :face-icon-small-hap

Here is what i was thinkin. Snowmobiling up a steep slope in deep snow is like hooking a 10000lb trailer behind a 350hp duramax or hooking that same trailer behind a N14 set at 350hp NO COMPARISON The torq. of the N14 is going to pull that 10000 trailer like nothing. I was just wondering if the turbo added tq like it does the hp thats all. thanks guys

In my opinion, a well setup TM-1000 or TM-1200 gives you both like nothing else can. My TM-1000, and TM-8s I've riden, feel like a stocker just off idle, but once on any amount of boost, which comes on very quickly with these sleds, then they are a whole nother animal!

of course is the 400+ HP Kenworth more suitable to pull a heavy trailer load than a camaro or a boosted 1200 but the they can do it with the same speed because they have the same horsepower (before the Turbo 1200 melts down) it easy to forget the gearing , if you have 400 ft of tourqe at 6000 rpm you can easy have 2000 fp of tourqe if you gear it down to 1200 rpm , every time you half the rpm you double the tourqe # ..
but the hp does the work on all 3 engines !
