heard another just hit the JR high
damn. I heard the second warning and got the f*ck outta dodge headed south towards twin buttes and blue sky. Got a text message out to a buddy to see how bad it was for him at the bar, haven't heard back yet.

Yikes!

How often does WY get tornadoes?
uh... never? Last big one I remember is the one that destroyed Wright, WY.

Here is a news article on it:

National Weather Service says tornado hit Laramie

Associated Press - May 22, 2008 6:05 PM ET

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - A National Weather Service meteorologist says a tornado touched down in Laramie this afternoon, causing damage to numerous buildings but not yet resulting in any reports of injuries.

Meteorologist John Griffith says he received reports that the storm damaged a high school, junior high and a Wal-Mart building.

Phone calls made to the Albany County School District and the local schools were not answered.

The National Weather Service at 3:45 p.m. lifted tornado warnings it had issued western Laramie County, including the city of Cheyenne, and for Albany County, including Laramie.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation says several southeast Wyoming roads, including westbound I-80 between Cheyenne and Laramie, were closed because of severe weather.

A large tornado tore through several northern Colorado towns earlier Thursday afternoon. The Weld County coroner's office confirmed one person was killed in the storm, which struck about 50 miles north of Denver.

Yikes!

How often does WY get tornadoes?

Well, since Al Gore invented Global Warming a few years ago or whatever, I'm sure that Wyoming gets something like 500 tornados a year now, which will mean we should shut off all the natural gas drilling operations in the state because it's contributing

hehehe ;)

No, but seriously, as windy as that state is, I can only remember reading about maybe a handful of tornados touching down .... it's pretty rare.

I remember when I was going to Wyotech in 1998 or 99 we saw a funnel cloud on break time once, but it never did touch down. What section of town did it hit? Always was amazing how nice the weather could be in Fort Collins when at the same time it was so crappy in Laramie.

Wanna trade??

Had an F3/4 hit about 5 miles from the house.
Lost power at about noon yesterday and got it back at 5 this morning.
A good part of Windsor is gone.
I had hail the size of grape fruit. Luckily both the wife and I were at work at the time. Anyone that had a car parked out side is getting a new windshield and it looks like someone took a sledge hammer to the car bodies. I gotta call the insurance people and see about a roof inspection. The hail blew holes in my water gardens PVC liner (custom cut liner), the wifes gardens are pretty much destroyed, but it looks like the house survived so I am good with it.

Took the power poles and snaped em like tooth pics. I am not talking those cute little ones right next to the rode, I am talking the high power ones. Lookes like something out of a movie. Trees that have stood for a hundred years ripped out of the ground.

I know we have a few SW members in windsor. They don't know when they will get power back. They evacuated a part of windsor because of a LARGE gas leak. One guy was killed outside of Greeley when his motorhome was destroyed.

Same storm caused a touchdown 3 miles from my sister's house in Cheyenne, havn't heard of any damage there yet.
Hope everyone is alright out there.
