Torn / Boost 03 RX-1M or wait and order new 2010?

Guys, I don't know if you've noticed but the cost of used boost is way down.

You can buy a boosted sled for 1/2 of what they cost to the original purchaser. Some folks are selling their turbos and superchargers independent of their sleds in an attempt to recoup more of their original outlay of cash.

I have an 03 RX-1M with low miles, rider forward, 162" camo extreme, lightweight skid, Holz front end, Boss high rise seat, etc.

I am torn

I'm tempted to buy a supercharger or a turbo for $2,000-$3,000 and keep my sled for another year or two. After all it's in great shape but, it is on its 7th season of use and chassis technology has moved forward in huge strides since I picked up my sled in the fall of 2002.

Maybe it's kind of like adding memory and a bigger hard drive to an older computer. At some point you just need to quit throwing money at it and move on to something new.

On the flip side, the stinkin RX-1 engine will probably outlast me and I could save tons of money because I already have done all the mods I'd more than likely have to do to a new sled and I know this one works well.

So I'm basically trying to make a choice between keeping my older sled and adding boost or ordering a new 2010 without (unless the factory adds boost for 2101, fat chance).

What do you guys think is the right way to go?

There's always the option of buying an 09 Nytro MTX with boost and upgraded supsension that someone is selling in place of a 2010.

I have the itch to buy something, and I have it bad but, I don't want to be the guy that suffers from premature spendulation. So I'm trying to do a little homework.

How many times are you going to ask this question. LOL. Boost it, ride, don't look back or forward. You'll get lots of good service out of that sled and it aint going to get any cheaper than it is now. It'll be a whole new ride with an extra 100+ HP. I have both the Nytro and th RX and I still like the RX, so why drive yourself nuts. It isn't that old of a design, basically its a carbed Apex and they are still selling the Apex in 09. If you add a $3k boost package you'll get your money out of it when you sell. Used boost kits are tapering off in the 2-3k range and won't likely get a whole lot cheaper. Today your sled is worth 4-5k boosted its worth 6-8k so there is no risk. Just do it, it'll keep you busy and you won't have so much time to window shop.

Thanks guys, it was all but a done deal to buy the supercharger and then I called MPI. I told them my sled was stock but, I had advanced my timing by slotting the ignition pickup and they said unless you put the timing back to stock, I wouldn't do it.

I guess I could try to put it back to stock but, I really don't want to tear that apart again. I'll see if I can find the post on adjusting the timing.

If tearing it apart to set the timing back to stock is something you don't want to do then I wouldn't suggest taking on a supercharger install....and tune. You have to get into that side of the engine anyway to install the pulley drive, but you probably know that.
