Torco Race Fuel Concentrate

Read lots of info on other forums about this, anyone used it?

Am trying to find alternatives to mixing race fuel...and HATE the debate abotu avgas...it ends up being about $10/ tank of gas...which is roughly 1.5 gallon of Race Gas....

I like the chart for those of us on Nytro...roughly 16-24 ounces mixed to 8 gallons for getting me to roughly 100 octane (yes true octane)

I've been using it for over a year now without any fuel related problems. One good thing is that you can pack a 16oz bottle with you and if you run low you can add it to some straight gas to get you back to the trailer.

Ran it for two years with a Stage 1 SC, never an issue. I now have a small (8oz)
clear sealed bottle (w/ 1oz increments) that has Torco in it. It goes into the side pouch of the 2 gallon quick release can of 91 octane. We carry two of those, so that we always have 4 gallons of 91 or 4 gallons of 102+ or anything in between. That takes care of all of our sleds, from the stockers to the modded two strokes to the Impulse turbo running 14/15 lbs of boost. We keep a laminated blending chart, similar to the one posted, in the sled.

Here are the test results from VolvoSpeed Reviews. (test is not dated, so sub in current price values for fuels).

Torco advertises that it can raise 93 pump to 107 when used in the highest concentrations. Tested in the highest recommended mixture we saw an AKI of ~99 through a secondary testing method. 8 full points from 107 if you assume Torco was implying 107 AKI and not 107 RON. This would mean it was raising 97RON to 107 RON. If you standardize the results on AKI you will see that 107RON is actually fairly close to 99AKI. This is much better than you could hope for with the more common additives such as with xylene or Tulene. If you assume $3.00 per gallon of 93AKI pump and $17.50 for a can of the Accelerator that works out to $6.50 a gallon. With race fuel such as VP and Sunoco in the $5.00 neighborhood this does not make since. On the other end if the spectrum, you could mix 1 can with 20 gallons. In areas where only 91AKI is available, this makes a little more sense at ~$3.80 per gallon to end up with 93AKI.

man, sign me up for race fuel at $5.00...I cant find it for 50% more than that...

ran it in my cat with nitrous. but didn't know i could in my turbo! worked great and i still got 2 gallons left might have to start blending! you sure it works?

ill have to do the math, but barrel a c16 is 800 plus 14%, if you guys are running 18 -22 pds and noss, which i do, with no issues, might be worth it

just remember everybody,s octane needs are different based on compression, elevation and motor set up, I can run 22lbs at 10,000 ft. on 100 octane with my set up. you need to base your boost levels off of 100 octane level if that works for your set up then this stuff will work. I use 100 octane as a max # to be safe.

This is a cross post from ty4stroke.com

it is a boost calculator and you can customize it for your elevation compression etc. etc. and it will tell you essentially "safe" operating octane requirements for your given situation...(it has a chart for apex, vector, and Nytro, make sure your using the right one...

for me I run 10lbs. from 4-9k ft. and stock compression

I have an 8 gallon tank, so here is the math...(I need to get to 100+/- octane)

Race Fuel-$7.85/Gallon (when buying barrel) per tank fill up-$62.80
AvGas- $3.89 Per tank fill up- $31.10
91 ($1.93)+ Torco (32oz. bottle= $18 or $.56/ounce)- 8 gallons of premium ($15.44 + 24 ounces of Torco ($13.49)= $28.93 per tank

the prices are obviously flexible regionally, but are clearly directionally accurate...Additionally, some may be comfy with avgas, some not, some might think torco is snake oil...have done enough research personally to have zero worries about it...and it is easier to mix with the quart containers, than toluene, or xlene, or avgas, or transporting race fuel...

the whole goal is to understand your net octane needs, and mix from there...I am not interested in paying more than I need to....atleast for fuel (and need to = what is the right thing, not interested in being cheap)
