What do you all think is the safe bet for "Red Line" on this engine?

I have heard that it's a tough engine but not balanced well over 7,600 rpms.

Is this just being way to cautious with this engine?
 
You're talking like it's a fourstroke...........

A two stroke can run a lot more RPM, because of less moving parts. The key is to not over run you fuel. If you spin it too high for it's tuning, it will go lean and could melt a piston. A two-stroke RPM is determined by design and pipe shape and volume. Like a sweet spot where it make the most power. You'll find there's a couple answers to where to run the 900. Totally stock 7,600 + or - . Tachs are seldom accurate. Aftermarket pipes from there to 8,100. Twin pipes run higher than singles. Other factors like porting , head design are also considered.

To make it easier to see I rotated my tack so 8,000 is in the 12 oclock position and started to pay more attention to rpm's on long pulls. Seems with my set up the most power is 7,600 to 7,800. I did notice WOT that it could climb to 8,000 or 8,100 especially on the flats or lower angle hill climbs. So I have started backing off just a little if its revving high for a while.

Good idea to do? or can she stay wide open at 8,000 for say 2-3 minutes with no I'll effects? Probably tough one to answer, no one wants to say "ya keep her wide open" and then the engine blows :face-icon-small-dis
