top end rebuild

My son rides an 05 rev 800 that I am getting ready to freshin up the top end. I have heard that the crank bearing should be repacked with grease.?? The sled has just over 3000 miles and runs real good. Whats that all about and how is that done. I dont want to pull the motor and take apart the lower end if I dont have to. Can anyone explain.

With that many miles on I would have the crank checked and trued. It could save alot of heartache and expense later.

2 of the crank bearings are not lubed by injection oil, only lubed when built. so between 2 and 3k the crank can go.
